That's good news for Jolley. I hope he takes advantage of the opportunity. You wonder if the couple of goals he scored with Chester gave him some much needed confidence.
Without that loan spell, would Jolley have ever got his chance? And without going back to Liverpool would Glatzel have ever recovered his confidence. Without a reserve team, it’s the only way to give fringe players first team experience. Having said that, when we loaned out Stockton and Mullin, they too found their form but sadly they both decided to move on.

Neither Stockton or Mullin were offered new contracts by the club which at the time fewvif any fans were complaining about.

I still cannot figure out Stockton. I had seen him plenty of times to decide he wasn’t really going anywhere. He would have the odd decent game and score the odd goal but he has excelled since leaving Tranmere. Funny old game ..

Stockton only found form years after he had left us permanently. Mullin did slightly better in his Cambridge loan spell, but nothing to suggest what was to follow.

He has thrived at a club with no pressure or expectations, he flopped when the pressure was on at tranmere and hearts

I suspect he’ll get a big move at some point and it’ll be interesting how it pans out.

Stockton had a mediocre initial spell with Rovers, slowly coming through the ranks from the academy. I thought he was a reasonable player, but infuriating at times. His style never endeared him to the SWA.

Unsurprisingly, he went on loan a few times but only hit form when at Morecambe. On his return to us in 2017, he hit a purple patch towards the end of our second season in the NL. He refused the offer of a new contract and moved to Hearts, but failed miserably. After a short spell at Carlisle, he got a new deal at Rovers, when he managed just a single goal before being farmed out to Wrexham and then being released.

He returned to Morecambe, where he is now in his third full season. His form has got better and better. Clearly he always had the talent, but the application and confidence was missing. He was terrible at Hearts, Carlisle and even Wrexham, mercurial at Rovers but enigmatic at Morecambe. With the confidence resulting from having a patient and supportive manager like Derek Adams and an appreciative crowd at the Globe Arena, he is finally fulfilling his potential. However, based on his history, it is clear to me that any big money transfer to another club could be disastrous to his career.
