Hi, coming up to Mersyside, will be catching the train from St Helens on Saturday to Liverpool City Center. Could you tell me the best way to get to Prenton Park from there?, by bus or rail ( Im going to get a Mersey travel card) Is there a good area to go drinking in Tranmere? a few pubs close together would be great.

Cheers

Daren.

Hi Daren. Not sure if you can get a bus direct from Liverpool to Tranmere. You could also get the train from Liverpool to Hamilton Square (Birkenhead) then either get a bus from there to the ground or walk it if you have the legs and the sun is out.

The Clipper is a decent pub for away fans and it's right outside the ground.

If you fancy a pizza there is the Villa Venezia restaurant behind the away end although you would have to get there about hour and half before for that.

The Heswall (71 and 72) and Seacombe (437) buses go from Sir Thomas St in Liverpool and stop at the bottom of Singleton Avenue, a couple of minutes walk from the ground. Birkenhead Central and Rock Ferry are the nearest train stations to the ground, both 15-20 minutes walk.

The Clipper doesn't have Sky any more, although they have been showing the early kick offs from a feed by Sky Italia. Queues are always huge in there too, but it is away fan friendly.

Not so much sure the Prenton Park is as much away fan friendly, but they do have Sky Sports if you can only watch it with Martin Tyler and Andy Gray drooling over Wayne Rooney for 90 minutes.

Both decent pubs though. Enjoy your day, suspect you may well do more than us [curses in annoyance].
