A terrific performance by Rovers. It is a pity we did not win the game by two or three goals as we deserved to, as the scoreline does not tell the full story. We worked incredibly hard without the ball to restrict Exeter to scraps, with their first shot on target coming in the 94th minute. By contrast, we hit the woodwork twice and forced two great saves from their keeper. Exeter dominated possession for long periods, but in non-threatening areas, whereas we looked dangerous whenever we went forward, particularly on the counter attack.

I thought both strikers set the tone for the performance with their constant pressing and harrying. I was made up Elliott got his goal and, yes, Jolley impressed once again. He has got good strength for such a slight player, and is able to carry the ball and show good trickery at times. However many goals he scores in the remainder of the season, I think he is the real deal.

It is difficult to pick a man of the match as there were so many good displays, but I would give it to Morris, who was instrumental in our best moves. Defensively we look much more solid with the partnership of Clarke and Davies restored, and I thought MacDonald had his best game since returning from injury. I don't care what many people say, we look far better defensively when a fit Spearing is patrolling in front of the back four. He is a more intelligent footballer than O'Connor.

Onwards and upwards. Three points off the automatic places with a game in hand, coming into the festive period. A good place to be.

I thought the red card decision was very harsh, but the incident did sum up MacManaman's career with us so far. He has been underwhelming.

What can i say, excellent result, well done lads.

Once again, we do well against the better teams and slip up v the relegation threatened teams.

Consistently inconsistent.
Yes, inconsistent and unpredictable. Sometimes we do well against top teams (Exeter, Forest Green) and other times badly (Northampton, Leyton Orient in the cup). Equally we can win or lose against relegation candidates (Scunthorpe, Oldham). Ali Maxwell summed us up best on Quest last night. We specialise in runs. It could be good runs or bad runs, but we always seem to be in the middle of a run. A good observation.

EFL on Quest is generally a good show, particular for Championship fans, but last night's highlights were poor and failed to show our dominance. Perhaps that was because there were so many goals in the first game between Oldham and FGR. At least we know our defence is better than the league leaders' by a country mile. ;)

That was a really enjoyable game, both teams gave it a proper go. Fantastic result, and great to see every single player giving their all. Playing with 2 up top has made a huge difference, and Jolley and Nevitt do seem to complement each other and work their socks off.

More of the same please Tranmere :)

yes, I agree playing the two lads up front who have bags of energy chase everything and are a Bloody nuisance, to other defenses, and with both lads scoring in the last few matches, let us hope we keep doing it and the goals will start to flow it would be nice to have the odd game where we score more than 2 for a change its been a hell of a long time since we did it in a LG game

It would have been the Harrogate game 2 2.

In fairness, we also haven’t conceded three goals in a league match for some time. In fact, Cheltenham away in April is the only instance this year.

Fair comment BBTC. While I suppose it is ultimately all about winning matches our current situation does not encourage those who are less than fully committed supporters to attend games. Who cares maybe but almost every attendee spends money.

This is not really true. A number of games have been very entertaining this season, including the victory on Saturday and the last home game.

There is no sign at all that attendances are in decline.

Thanks RLC. Pleased. to hear about recent games which, not surprisingly, have involved a more positive Rovers approach with two upfront. I was really aiming at increasing rather than reducing gates. However, if we continue to do well then perhaps more people will come however many we score!

Four matches in League Two on Saturday postponed already due to Covid. Given that Orient are based in London, I would not be surprised if our game went the same way. There is certainly potential for a lot of disruption over Christmas.

Agreed. Like like it’s heading for another lonely Xmas .
