The games are coming thick and fast now and after getting back on track with a 1-0 win on Tues night, Rovers take a relatively short trip up the M6 to take on the Bluebirds. Whilst struggling in 20th they have just come of the back of an excellent 1-0 away win to high flying Northampton so their spirits will be up. The reverse fixture on boxing day ended with a 2-0 win to Rovers with goals from Maynard and Morris whilst the visitors enjoyed good spells of possession, they did not have any bite up front.

Rovers have a couple of injury concerns ahead of the game with Spearing and McPake taking knocks on Tues night but they have a few days now for rest and recuperation.

Next up we have a trip to Barrow managed of course these days by our old FGR rival Mark Cooper. The hosts sit 20th in the division albeit a comfortable 10 points off the relegation zone. On Tuesday night they picked up an impressive away win at Northampton to do us a favour, but had lost 3 on the bounce before that. The Bluebirds skipper Ollie Banks is top scorer and has impressed heavily which recently led to a new contract. Whilst Mark Ellis left on deadline day, the hosts brought back John Rooney from Stockport who has been pushed out of the hatters side by the comeback and good form of Connor Jennings.

As for the rovers line up Davies sounds like he is close to being fit so although KNP did well on Tuesday, Tom will return if fit I would expect. Hopefully Spearing and McPake are both fit although in Foley and Hawkes we have decent back up options. I’d personally keep Glatzel in alongside Hemmings as the former looked sharp on Tuesday and the latter was unlucky not to open his rovers account. Being a new striker we could do with Hemmings getting on the scoresheet sooner or later, if only for his own confidence.

Prediction: just the type of game rovers could come away with another ugly victory. Lets hope so.

Davies and McPake trained today so are available Saturday, fancy a win 2 1.

Micky confirmed in his interview that Spearing is out, but did not put a timeframe on his absence. I think Foley will come in for Jay, and I would not be completely surprised if Hawkes replaces McPake, who had a fairly quiet game on Tuesday. Josh has looked sharp when he has come off the bench in the last two games. If Davies is fully recovered he probably will start, but Mellon rates KP much more highly than most of our supporters, so it would not be a surprise if he kept his place in the event that Davies is not 100%.

I fancy us to win the game by one or two goals. Barrow looked a decent footballing side at Prenton Park, but were not particularly threatening, and our record against teams in the bottom half is excellent. The hosts did get an excellent victory at Northampton on Tuesday night, but the Cobblers are having a wobble at the moment.

Hemmings has improved progressively with each game and I think he might break his duck on Saturday. We could do with another victory ahead of arguably the most important game of the season to date on Tuesday night against Swindon, one of our main rivals for automatic promotion

Get wrapped for this one, weather is not too kind for those going!

Going for a draw! And a few colds for those watching!

Hard to call this one. Don’t expect an easy game and Barrow seem to have done some decent business in the window. Like KH above think a draw most likely

They have 1 of the worst home records in the league and have lost their last 3 at home we just need be are normal solid selves and we should win.

Completely agree. If we don't target victories against teams in the bottom quarter of the division we won't make the play offs, let alone go up automatically.

I’m sure we target victories in all of our games. Let’s see how it pans out.

Glad glatzel keeps his place. A shame Davies couldn’t start.

Hadn’t realised McPake was ruled out entirely. Think there are various areas of the park where a good performance will make the difference for Rovers. I’d hope NKP can play as capably as last time out.

Hawkes!!!!!!!!! Great goal. Edge of the box, curled around the keeper.

Classic Josh Hawkes goal. Comes in from the left and curls it round the keeper. 1-0 !

We’re looking good although they’ve had some half chances. Need that second goal

These really are here for the taking. Defensively, they are all over the place. Doohan not had a save to make. Good half from Rovers, let's have a few more goals second half.
