Will be the wealthiest club in non-league football again next season.

Shame.

We just need the RS to lose tonight for the perfect Wirral day.

In all seriousness, I thought Wrexham were rubbish today and Grimsby fully deserved that. The Mariners played some lovely football and Wrexham's only threat was from set plays, particularly the long throw. They are a very one-dimensional team.

Mani looks decent at that level, which emphasises the gulf between the divisions. However, McAtee could play higher.

I think it is a great result for us, as it would have been a nightmare having them in the same division next season.

I saw them a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised how fragile they were. For all the big money signings they’re still carrying a fair bit of mediocrity in that team.

Saying that, they should walk the league next season.…their 15th in non league!

While I don’t dislike Wrexham, think this result is good for Rovers as another moneybags team coming up with Stockport would make things tougher for Rovers.

Stockport were always going to be formidable too this season. At this stage, it’s hard to see anyone of that quality challenging alongside Wrexham next season, although I wouldn’t bet on anything in that league.

Interesting to see if the owners stick or twist with Parkinson.

It doesn’t look like either side who dropped out of the FL will pose much of a threat and while there are clubs who are bankrolled a bit, none to the extent of Wrexham.

Agree Parkinson’s position is a tough call. Personally think if he’s able to get them back into the FL then equipped to do a decent job at that level, so would be inclined to stick. The wealthy American owners may not get that though.

yes I agree Mani actually had a very good game when he came on. Not just his goal but his link up play was very good. He arguably should start at Wembley with a hat trick in their last league game of the season and goals in both play off games, but he’s put himself in the shop window anyhow. Was also impressed with McAtee with his goal and assist. Maybe if they fail to go up we could be tempted. A good age at 22 although he’s from Salford so money bags Neville etc could snap him up.
Yes Wrexham have no real pace and don’t play much football at all. wonder what mullin is thinking as he rejected Cambridge who comfortably stayed up in league one whereas he’ll have another season going to Maidenhead, Woking and wealdstone!!

Going briefly off topic, it looks like Vale are going up via the play offs, with Darryl Clarke again demonstrating his credentials at this level.

From our perspective, a Mansfield promotion would have been better given their resources. However, part of me is pleased when a moneybags team does not succeed.

I’d lean that way too, particularly given their level of consistency over the second half of the season and the benefits of continuity.

No idea what the owners will think though. They might even be tempted to make a move for Micky!!

Agree that Mansfield have more financial muscle, but after what’s gone on with Darryl Clarke, losing a daughter, glad on a human level that despite that tragedy he’s been able to secure Vale promotion.

Do we want Grimsby, Chesterfield or Solihull to take the last L2 place?

I did not realise Clarke had gone through that. Terrible for him.

Either Grimsby or Chesterfield. Both northern-ish clubs with a bit of tradition and character, whereas Solihull are another bland outfit like Crawley, Stevenage, Harrogate etc.
