poor players or badly utilised? plus why do players suddenly develop so called attitude problems? surely some due diligence is done before we sign them.

Hawkes has disappointed too. Not as much as McPake but he hasn’t been nearly as good after signing a contract. He does have potential though and is still young.

but makes you think we have had players who have been good for other teams come to us been left out with a so-called attitude problem gone away and Blossomed to name a few Cole-Mullin-the Lad who was at Shrewsbury makes you wonder if we have a Manager with an attitude and just can,t get the best out of some players as we all know he won't play our youth players not that I am saying they are good enough but its true

He failed at Morecambe as well, and there are suggestions Rangers will dispose of him early because of attitude issues.

Individual players have to take responsibility for their performance, rather than laying everything at the door of the manager. Cogley, Davies, O'Connor, Nevitt and co. have had no problems this season.

I get all that but when you think of Walker -Merrie -Watson-Mcpake to name a few there seem to be a fair few players who seem to be like it and its the Management's job to get the best out of them that's all i am saying

Time to be rueful. Another win and we would have been in the playoffs. Two more and we’d have been promoted. So frustrating.

This league could be a lot tougher next year, but at least we’ll have another derby (Crewe) and the SSWA (including me) will have two more games (Gillingham and AFC Wimbledon).

Positives from this season:
Best home record in the league, most points, most wins.
Second best defence and our lowest total goals conceded for years.
Four league doubles including a treble against Crawley.
Disappointments:
Clearly, finishing ninth after being in the playoffs and even the autos for most of the season.
Worst away record in top 15.
Lowest goals scored in top 13.

At least we should be able to start next season with a more settled squad than this season.

The Forrest Green manager Rob Edwards has jumped ship to Watford (probably be gone by November) a big move for him..

Shades of Derek Adams and Morecambe at end of last season....and that didn't take too long to unravel for him
I agree. Dale Vince is upset as he believes that he was blindsided by Edwards and Watford. Reckons that it will be karma if FGR and Watford meet in the same division soon!

You can't blame Edwards. It is a fantastic opportunity to progress his career.

Vince has sacked two managers immediately following play off qualification, so is perfectly capable of being ruthless himself.

Fair comment RLC. It is an interesting appointment from Watford given that they are usually keen for immediate success in the absence of which the knife goes in very quickly. I would have thought that Edwards would need time to build a seriously viable team. Can he keep hold of the likes of Dennis? See what happens!

Even if Edwards is sacked after a few months, his profile will be enhanced and he will be in contention for other jobs higher up the pyramid.

If we are feeling bad about our team, think what Northampton fans must be like. In or around the autos for most of the season, they get pipped by a side who spent just the last five minutes of the season (plus a lot of stoppage time) in the top three. They did it against a weakened Scunthorpe side (yes, even weaker than normal, with a few youngsters getting a run out). Then their rivals’ fans get the game stopped, so when it resumes, the other match is finished so they know exactly what is required. Hardly fair. It looks like they will struggle to qualify via the playoffs.

Having said that, credit to Joey Barton - and also the club owner for backing him when the Pirates were really struggling in mid-season.

Don’t dislike the Cobblers but I won’t shed too many tears if they miss out as their last promotion was through the play-offs while we were demoted without having the chance of saving our season. No real preference who goes up on footballing grounds, but from an emotional perspective would quite like it to be Port Vale after their boss Darryl Clarke lost his daughter during the season.

I would prefer Swindon to go up. I feel a bit of local rivalry with Vale, and I don't want moneybags Mansfield to be rewarded, although promotion would get them out of the way next season.
