Don't see a reduced budget being connected to a ground move as it would be several years away at the very least
It isn't the timing of the ground move it is rather that promotion to L1 requires a heavy financial outlay whuch might risk the timing and finances for the new ground whenevr it may be so that he wouldn't be that concerned if we didn't go up this season.
It's only what I read elsewhere but if true it makes sense to also cut the budget for next season to a mid table budget and consolidate the finances....

I think the ground move would require substantial external finance anyway, so I am not sure it would affect revenue budgets in the very short term.

Per MP's comments in the recent Q&A we are only just at the feasibility study stage, the cost of which is about 50k.

In some ways I’d like it put to bed tonight, but who would say no if our play-off rivals imploded, we rediscovered the art of winning away in East London and crept into the top 7.

4 away wins would be very nice tonight! A quid on that would probably make you a millionaire, though ...

At least we are going to be put out of our misery tonight

It’s going to be a happy old event at PP on Saturday. Long faces all around; I’d have probably given it a miss but having a season ticket makes you feel obliged and might even be a pick-me-up seeing fans in the Cowshed having reason to be even more miserable than us!

Ha yes. Look on the bright side, we won’t be playing conference football next season. Oldham and Scunthorpe are in for a shock.

I won’t be at PP on Saturday, but wouldn’t wish on any fan the despair of dropping out of the FL. That last game v Bury still feels raw, despite all that’s happened since.

We have 2 nothing games left, ik ow we won't do it but we should try a couple of the youngsters like Hayde to give them some experience

I think we should just try and win the home game at least and then see where that leaves us with one game left.

While it is mathematically possible to make the top seven we have to be professional and try and win our games. I don't see much point in playing academy players who almost certainly are not going to be good enough anyway, as stated by Palios in the recent Q&A.

Due to the change in youth policy, Hawkes, O'Connor, Merrie and the rest are effectively our youth players now.

I agree that it would be a mistake to field a weakened time while Rovers have a chance, however slim, of still making the play-offs. Should that have gone by the Orient game then there is an argument for giving the likes of Hayde, Stratulis and Taylor some game time.

We will have Morris and Macdonald back for this one. I’d like to see both play and give Merrie another chance in midfield.

Giving a youngster or 2 a run out isn't significantly weakening the side and you never know they may do well and be with keeping.

I would rather we tried Hayde to see if he can impress and be worth or contract than go down the route of over 35s in the summer again

I don't think we should be experimenting with the side while there is still a chance of going up, however remote.

By all means give him a run out at Orient if that game is a dead rubber, if we actually think he is good enough. However, judging by Palios's comments in recent months and years, we don't believe the vast majority of academy players are good enough, which is why it is being closed. The youth policy now is to take on players released by bigger clubs and develop them.

We already have a large number of players in the 18-25 age bracket in the squad: MacDonald, Cogley, Merrie, Hawkes, O'Connor, Nevitt. As has been commented elsewhere, it is players in the 25-30 bracket that we are really lacking.

Tend to agree with that but we have a tendency to sign players at the end of their careers ie Duffy, Maynard, Foley who are not worth it

I agree that we should not be signing those players. The odd exception like Foley who is a good professional, but not the others.

Back on topic, and 2,000 season tickets have been sold. We are still on target to reach the 3,000 sold last year by the time next season actually kicks off.

Mathematically we have a chance of going up yes but that is all - not a realistic one.
In any event given the awful performance by the first 11 on Saturday when it is clear many have checked out and are unwilling to risk injury playing for a club they are leaving as confirmed by Spearing's criticism of them after the match we would likely stand more chance going with the youth.
Stratulis and Hayde should get both games although I would be tempted to play Burton also. We could also play Maguire for a bit of a laugh and see if he comes in with a MOM performance.

We’ll always have a reasonable hard core of season ticket holders. I worry about the floating/occasional supporters dipping in numbers and the fickle young who crave success (does anyone remember the naivety of youth and unrealistic dreams……..is it okay to still have these in later years!). My son’s okay whilst I’m paying for his ticket and for our away escapades, but I’m not so sure he’ll be so committed when he has to shell out himself.
