At least the players are showing some emotion out there, they seem to care which is what I want to see from the players. I don't read much into the reds and yellows as its a game in isolation ruined by the ref. Conceding the late goals is a worrying trend though, however I know we can all make excuses but that last minute goal on Sat was pretty unlucky. The lads hit it from a mile out, most times it misses by a mile, this time is smacks the crossbar and falls to their player. There is a large element of luck in that.

There was great fight and togetherness shown by the players yesterday, which needs to be taken into the remaining games. That spirit has been lacking away from home.

If we take that attitude into the remaining away matches all three are winnable, as we are playing inferior teams.

Was just listening to trip to the moon podcast and a few interesting points raised.

In the last ten games we’ve conceded 7 goals in the 85th minute or later. Dropping 7 points in total which if we hadn’t we’d be second.

Some talk of whether Clarke gets too worked up at times. I actually noticed that when we went 2-1 up, after he celebrated at the kop he walked back to the halfway line and was clearly doing some big claps and pointing at their fans who presumably had been giving him some stick. He should have left that to full time if we’d won the game.

Obviously they’ll be financial implications as it’s an automatic fine for 5 yellow cards, never mind two reds
sorry to disagree SPARKY as he seemed to me to be congratulating murphy on his save, still it was a bit insensitive being in front of their fans.

Ah yes KTF you may be right now I’ve thought about it some more.

As RLC says we need to take that positive attitude into the away games as that’s where we’ve been poor of late. With home games to come against the likes of Bristol rovers and Exeter there are no guarantees we’ll win those matches so the away form needs to improve

Bristol rovers have apparently sold 1100 tickets so far which is amazing given the distance

on the other forum ckarke has taken a bit of stick regarding his conduct as captain, but I wonder if players rolling around as if their legs are broken only to jump back up once a card is shown is alien to him being old school, years ago a tackle was a tackle today you only have to look at an opponent and he falls over, also the sight of the entire Carlisle bench acting like they did is also blatant cheating I,m not saying Clarke is a saint or blameless but must stick in his throat the way the game has ended up.

I think that's really just a case of pointing fingers. It's not really helpful IMO. The problem was clearly the referee. The players can sense a weak referee almost immediately after a game starts and therefore take advantage as we saw with their awful playacting and overreacting. A decent referee would not have allowed any of this nonsense to happen.

I think there are times when Clarke sails a bit close to the wind with some of his actions, but I don't think he did much wrong in this game. we're a bit thin on the ground for onfield leaders, aside from the experienced trio, probably Tom Davies is the other that comes to mind.

A couple of big games tomorrow night:

FGR v Mansfield
Salford v Vale

An FGR win and a draw would be the perfect results. A Salford victory would see us drop out of the top seven, but would ensure it stays congested at the top and paradoxically would keep our automatic hopes alive.

we did see one or two good things on Saturday if the right balls are put in the box Hemmings will score a fair share and Nevitt has got the balls to run and score when given the chance having both lads scoring that's a major plus now we need to stop conceding late and get a few more to nail a win bet you we win 2-0 sat with both the front lads getting them COME ON ROVERS DON,T FUCK THIS UP but it is Tranmere and we don,t do easy

Anyone ITK know whether either Red card was appealed? If so when is the decision normally?

Appeals for both players rejected, and Morris's suspension extended by a further game.

I have no idea how they can believe it was 'frivolous' to question the Morris suspension.

Timing couldn’t be much worse at such a crucial time of the season. Need others to step up

Wow. So the loss of one of our better players for the remainder of the run-in. That's a big blow.

Surprised we appealed both TBH.
Morris was always a Red card by the modern laws though I don't agree with them! Adding an extra game however is taking the p**s.
Thought MacDonald might have been ok as his foot was not off the ground and it seems he slipped in follow through but I assume that is the EFL supporting their official!!
Very disappointing nevertheless and exactly what we didn't need!

Think we usually get some advice from a former referee about whether it's worth appealing. As they weren't clearly wrong, surprised we bothered as they were not going to succeed. I agree that the frivolous appeal sanction seems very harsh and rarely applied. Recall Goodi got an extra game ban after his sending off at Crewe on Boxing Day about 12 years ago.

They should have been presented with footage of the challenge on Merrie and the Morris challenge, with no knowledge of which one was red-carded; now that would have made their minds spontaneously combust!

I think its the FA who deal with the appeals

Breakspear issued another red card at Colchester today, plus seven yellows.
