our away form has been sooooooooooooooooo bad of late and frustrating it mad how bad we are away from home and so good at home, colly is in bad form and has 3 players away on int duty, and lost their last two at home so we should be looking at this we need the points if and it's a big if the lads can play as they did in the second half at Sutton for the full 90 mins then I would think we would win, also I want Hemmings to start scoring he has 4 in 14 games and yes its 5 assists but still think he could do more and should do more as well as Nevitt he needs to score more too not like they have not had chances, think we will come through this with 1-0 or 2-1 win

Last year we played Colchester away around the same time in a midweek fixture and came from behind to draw 2-2. Nya Kirby hit the woodwork in added time. If he'd converted that chance, it would have put Rovers back in the top 3 and who knows what might have happened then...

The Us have two players on international duty and a couple of injury doubts. Ex Rovers loanee Shamal George likely to be between the sticks for our hosts. I suppose the main question line-up wise is whether Spearing comes back in for absentee O'Connor. If Spearing isn't ready then presumably Micky will stick with a similar formation as started at Sutton, with 2 wide players, given hell will freeze over before he gives Merrie another chance in midfield.

This game is certainly winnable with the Us having lost their last two, but it's got the feel of a scrappy contest. Hope we come out on top.

Micky confirmed in his pre-match interview that Spearing will travel with the squad tomorrow, but it was unclear whether he is actually ready to start.

If he is available, it will be interesting to see whether we start with three in midfield, as we looked much better in a 433 last week than in a 442. However, Mellon might believe we can control the game with two central midfielders against weaker opposition. Personally, I don't think McPake is doing enough to justify his place away from home, particularly due to his unwillingness to track back.

Colchester's absentees apparently include the influential Allan Judge. I have read mixed reviews of their performance against Forest Green on Tuesday, with some suggesting they looked reasonable for periods of the game. Whatever their weaknesses, we will have to put in a better first half display than in the last half dozen away games to win the match.

It won't have any bearing on Saturday's game, but we actually have a good record at Colchester's new home. We won on our first ever visit with Ryan Shotton scoring the winner, and I have seen three wins and a draw on four subsequent visits. As referenced above, we even squeaked a point last season, despite some suitably bizarre tactical decisions from Keith Hill.

I think we need six points from the next two games to stay in contention for an automatic place. We need to win at least a couple of the remaining away games to make the top three, and this looks as good an opportunity as any.

I didn't see all of the Colchester game on Monday but saw quite a but and they looked pretty poor to me, Forest Green passed it around well which is what we need to do

The table doesn’t lie and Colchester are fairly poor. They are there for the taking and if we can’t win there and put in another poor away performance like the first half at Sutton then questions will need asking

I’ve just bought my ticket and am looking forward to my first game in a long time. I originally thought the online process would be a lot of hassle but I now realise it has a lot of safety measures incorporated. I must say that I am feeling relaxed about being in a large crowd, thanks to the measures in place.

I’ve voted above for a win, based partly on form and partly on wishful thinking. We are going to have to step up a gear with just eight games to go - and I am hoping we’ll start tomorrow.

A win is critical IMO if we are to achieve automatic promotion as this is the sort of game we should be winning. Hopefully MM will get the team firing from the first minute and not get sucked into a long ball game as we simply can't play that effectively.
I suspect Spearing will come straight back in replacing O'Connor and otherwise we will be unchanged. I am going for a 3-1 win and think Hemmings will score today and not from the penalty spot!
Slightly off topic but the Murphy pre-match interview is interesting - sounds like his concussion earlier in the season was pretty bad so much so that it required visting a specialist. Perhaps explains why he didn't come straight back into the team. That said he was clearly very disappointed not to be brought back in and it was good to hear he still wants to start every game despite his age!

Maynard’s return to bench duties is a surprise albeit a welcome one. Amazed about Merrie’s return and hope he can make the most of things, though the same ref as sent him off at Walsall. Spearing only fit for bench duty a bit of a surprise. Hope all goes well for Rovers today.

Only Scunthorpe and Oldham have lost more at home this season in league two. Akinde and sears will be a handful
