Different manager and different squad of players, so last season is irrelevant. We may or may not be promoted, but it is the next thirteen games that matter, not the results from March and April 2021.
It will be in the back of the minds of the minds of the players who were here last season it's human nature

There are not many that were here last season. I think only four of those that started today.

The absence of Vaughan killed us last season, but we are not as reliant on a single player this season.

Let’s see what the next few games bring but we must start picking up points whatever way necessary.

There are some similarities that without Vaughan we just couldn’t score. Not as bad this season but still massive issues scoring enough goals. We’re defensively better this season of course which has helped up to now. As Ian says all we can do is see how the next few games go

We have failed to score in over 35% of our games, how many times have we scored more than 1 in a game? It's simply not sustainable over a whole season to score so few goals and make the top 3.

And yet we are in the top three, and a couple of weeks ago the sides below did not have games in hand.

You need to score one more than the opposition to win a game of football, by whatever means. Let us see what happens over 46 games.

Disappointing. Glatzel injured is a huge loss. They simply lack upfront without him. They seem incapable of scoring more than one otherwise.

The Hemmings-Nevitt partnership looked promising today.

Any explanations for the Foley replacing Hemmings sub? Sam looked very jaded at Hartlepool so if MM felt we needed to go more defensive replacing striker with midfielder then Merrie might have offered fresher legs.

Merrie never gets a look in so wasn't going be used, I would have took Nevitt off before Hemmings

Nevitt rarely looks like scoring and the service to the front 2 is average at best
Nevitt supported Hemmings better than Jolley, and they both played well today.

Nevitt is not a natural goalscorer, but Hemmings is. So is Glatzel, once he is fit.

However, if we don't have a plethora of natural goalscorers, that suggests Mellon is right to adopt a relatively cautious approach, because we can't simply outscore teams.

But we are not outsourcing teams now, 2 wins out of 7 confirms it.

My point was that we can't simply open out and make the game end to end, because we don't have lots of goals in the side. We have to be relatively cautious and Mellon's approach is correct.

A period of 7 games tells us a lot less than 33 games.

46 games will tell us and ultimately if we don't get promoted we only have ourselves to blame

I am not sure there is any need to apportion blame, given the performance of Mellon and the players thus far.

It will be a failure if we don't get promoted, Micky has been well backed and it'd upto him and the players to deliver

It depends where we finish. There are several other clubs that have heavily backed their managers and are nowhere near promotion (Bradford, Salford, Bristol Rovers).

A good budget can get you in contention, but it does not guarantee success. There are a number of clubs with good budgets and they can't all go up.

Disappointing to hear there was apparently some fighting amongst the fans near the JK statue after the game yesterday. Why they don’t keep the away fans in for a while at the end of the game is beyond me, especially when they have plenty and have equalised late on

I actually missed our goal yesterday as I was still queueing for a coffee but what a great goal all round!
