With the Morecombe manager also rumoured to be leaving, maybe Hill is going to become Morecombe`s manager, in time for the play offs . That would make a tasty play off.

Interesting article and fair as well but highlights the problems daees and Parky face with divisions in the squad.

I think you will see the team pull things together, I think with 9 days to get the lads laughing and focused I also think that mindes and body,s will be rested and be fresher so let us hope the two lads get them fired up and organized and can attack from the start wish I was 1 of the Lucky fans who was going to be there to see it will be there in spirit

I share the relief expressed on here about Keith's departure. The return of Dawes and Parky brings back some hope going into the play-offs, although my expectations aren't high, we have a chance, while the SWA will be fully behind the caretakers.

The injury to Vaughan was probably the key to where things started going wrong. KH seemed unable to build a side with much goal threat without James, but my feeling is had he stayed fit, we'd probably have gone up under Keith. The problems evident in recent weeks in all probability would have shown further down the line though.

I agree that the Globe article is balanced and perceptive. It alludes to mental health issues and these have also been referred to elsewhere. While Keith was not a good fit for our club, my hope would be that any such difficulties are alleviated and he finds an appropriate niche in due course.

In relation to Boz's point regarding mental health, I have wondered all along whether Hill is really cut out for management, certainly at a moderately sized club. He seemed to have a very fragile ego, and very little of the imperviousness to criticism which all managers need.

I would guess at Rochdale, where there is a small fan base and very little pressure from the board, his post match rants went under the radar. However, that kind of approach will always be disastrous at a club like Tranmere, Bolton or Barnsley.

I also wonder whether he was really able to deal with senior players like Clarke, Spearing and Vaughan, who have played at a far higher level, and under far more talented managers than Hill. You just wonder what their reaction was to some of his more eccentric decisions - playing full backs on the opposite side of the pitch, persisting with Lewis up front - and whether he ever really had their respect. I would guess that was a problem for Jackson earlier in the season as well.

As I have always said, I liked Keith as a person and for most of his period in charge. Like most on this forum, I have watched in dismay at the slide in form and quality of performance since Vaughan’s injury and the EFLT final defeat. Nevertheless, I am sure he tried his best and unlike the club I would like to thank him and wish him well.

I think one of the problems was that he never really understood what it means to be the Rovers manager. He didn’t know what made the owners and the fans tick. He never seemed to identify with the fans.

It seemed like it was just another job. While the team performed, he got away with it - helped by the lack of a crowd. However, he became increasingly under pressure and seemed to lose the plot.

It’s too early to think about a new manager. But when that time comes, I hope we can find a manager who knows and understands the club. It may not be possible, but if not I hope Mark makes sure the culture and history of the club is understood by the successful candidate.

I think you could be right, RLC. However, it doesn’t explain why the totally untried partnership of Dawes and Parkinson had so much success.

I think it possibly does. Hill tried to micro-manage the players and make them play in a very rigid system, whereas Dawes just trusted their ability and gave them the freedom to go and play. That probably kept a lot of the senior players on board.

Listening to Ollie Banks on Radio Merseyside tonight, it also seems that the training sessions were particularly enjoyable under Dawes, which again would help to keep the players happy and enthused.

Spot on. His team selections and tactics weren't great but mentally he just couldn't handle the pressure. The social media, the losses, the expectations etc and that was clearly evident in his interviews and just became worse as the season progressed. I do hope he goes on to find a club where he fits as he clearly loves football. I think he can cut it in management as seen at Rochdale but on a much smaller scale.

One thing I must say in his defence is that I thought he was unfairly treated regarding the Bolton connections. Some supporters never gave him a chance from the start.

Also, I hope the players get their spark back pretty quickly as we have two massive games coming up. That article really hit me when I read about the players not celebrating after Sat game for making the playoffs. It didn't resonate at the time but it was an excellent observation and you wonder how fragile the squad has become over the last few months.

I am pretty sure it will have, indirectly at least.
100% agree with RLC here - the Clarke post match presser couple of weeks was likely instrumental in laying all bare to MP and soundings would surely have been taken post that with at least him, Spearing and Davies probably.
