Actually , can someone explain what is meant by a top 3 team? It has been mentioned a few times. if it is based on funding, then I understand Tranmere are not in the top 3 in League 2 - in fact Salford are apparently paying almost 3 times Tranmere in terms of wages, so they are really underperforming, if money equates to success. Wouldn't it be boring if whatever it is that purportedly dictates 'top 3, top 6, bottom 3' always happened.
We've seem ' whole greater than the sum of the parts' teams be promoted in our last 4 seasons. Cheltenham this season don't pretend to play like Barcelona but they have players who play their part effectively within the team. Same as Cambridge.
Anyway, on a plus ca change basis, I extracted these from 2019 to 2020 - it begs the question, who would be manager of TR? I think the twitter mob were in full cry that season.
"That was a woeful performance against a team whos confidence must have been at rock bottom before the game, they must be kicking themselves that they didn't win as they really should have done.
Monthe seemed to misjudge the ball for the goal & Ray who should've covered got totally done for pace, they had a free header which should've been a goal then following a Davies howler they came close again where as we created very little in the first half, Perkins shot well wide and CBT having a chance too.
We only really got going in the last 20 minutes when we created some pressure without troubling them too much, a blatant penalty well dispatched to get us level but the draw papered over the cracks, we were 2nd best against a poor side, injuries are having a big impact but we could hardly string 2 passes together."
"i know a few ex players not naming them . as they say mm has not got the brains for lg 1 . im not saying it but his record in lg 2 is very good in lg 1 not so"
"I went to the blackpool game and CTB was a disgrace yet starts yesterday and guess what he was just as bad, I went to the burton game and watched caprice get slaughtered by akins yet starts yesterday I know we have injuries but at some point mellon must see things are not working , is he scared to take chances or to stubborn? at the moment I have little faith he can sign decent players or change things around but hope to be proved wrong"
"I do worry that we are still looking to play long balls up to Payne's head. Even if he is able to win it, there were no players running on to anticipate that which meant we just surrendered possession time and time again.
"it was another game which our lack of discipline was again apparent. Yes, the officials were poor but we cannot keep giving away mindless fouls in dangerous areas and not expect to be punished. The first penalty was very soft but it was a penalty, and the second looked like a tired tackle.
At least we have a nice easy home game up next. Oh wait............"
As for me, I'm too old in the tooth to give a darn what Hill thinks of some 'supporters'. This has been a very strange season with almost every team losing 11 or more games so far. Hard to say whether having fans in would have given the team a spur that turned draws into wins and losses into draws.
