As far as I am concerned, Bolton can sign as many big names as they like, they are ten points behind, we have played and beat them twice, so if they can takes points from the teams around us, all well and good.

Both Crawford and Nugent are loans to the end of the season, that will be that for incomings and looks like no outgoings rather surprisingly

Surely one or two are going out as otherwise we’ll have some very decent players sat in the stand. Credit to the board for getting their wallet out

glad they are short term and if they don,t work out they won't have to cost too much if we can get 7-10 goals out of Nugent then it would be an amazing little bite of business

Indeed, plenty of depth and competition for places. If Ferrier stays, the Nugent signing is low risk as we will have cover. However, I still think Morgan or CBT might leave before the night is out.

Really strong squad now with plenty of depth, just what we need for the run in.

I presume Nugent can play in the Pizza match tomorrow, although Crawford might be cup tied. It will be interesting to see how he / they get on.

Sounds like he needs a few training sessions before getting involved but we have real experienced players in the team now and if he gets his fitness, I think he could be a great player to have in the squad as we push for the auto places.

Overall some good business, Nugent giving us another striking option in particular is welcome. However, while the right-back area has been resolved by using players out of position and adapting well, we haven't brought in any cover for Jay Spearing, with both Crawford and Kirby being more attack-minded midfielders. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.

Assuming no one leaves and no major changes to recent starting elevens, what a back up team this could be!

murphy
OConnor Ellis Ray Nelson Rides
Kirby Crawford Morris
CBT Ferrier

Subs: Jolley and other youngsters

Arguably as strong as our starting eleven in League One in the first half of last season.

We don't have a direct replacement for Spearing, but if he got injured we would be screwed anyway. He is indispensable.

Apart from the McDonald signing I'm a bit underwhelmed....hope I'm wrong but don't remember Crawford being outstanding in our 2 games against Bolton and Nugent has maybe arrived 5 years too late

Nugent is a bit of a dilemma as he clearly won’t be match fit but will he get the opportunity to get games to increase match fitness? Possibly not so how effective he’ll be compared to say Ferrier in the latter part of matches when Vaughan needs a rest remains to be seen.

Assuming Ferrier stays of course

Totally agree Sparky, and maybe we'll get a chance to see tomorrow evening against Peterborough

It seems Ferrier is staying, in which case the Nugent signing is low risk as we have other options.

I think what is key is that the players we wanted to keep - Ferrier, CBT, Monthe - have stayed, and as a result the squad has to be stronger than it was at the beginning of the month.

In the unlikely event that the new signings all flop, we still have our original options to fall back on.
