Tuesday night sees Forest Green come to PP at the start of a run of 3 home league games in 7 days. Like ourselves the visitors squad has changed a fair bit since our play off battles in recent years.

FGR sit 4th at the moment but only one point off top spot. Still managed by the at times annoying Mark Cooper, their squad includes ex rovers loanees Aaron Collins and Kane Wilson. The former who I’m sure scored in the 9-0 win v North Ferriby, and the latter who always impressed me but had injury issues and wasn’t in the FGR squad for their draw v Port Vale on Saturday. Alongside Collins they have Jamille Matt who played for Newport against us at Wembley.

As for the rover side, selection will depend on the next round of COVID tests. After his goal and performance v Leicester I was a bit disappointed CBT didn’t start on Saturday but maybe he will after our goalless display at Stevenage. However whether he can fit into the 4-3-3 remains to be seen. Unless OConnor is available assume Khan will continue at RB as he did ok and Manny will stay at CB alongside Clarke.

Prediction: a draw against a strong opponent wouldn’t be a disaster, but it would mean another game without a victory and the negative social media storm that has gathered some momentum would continue...

The last thing we need in our current state is a game against our old nemesis, who are flying high and having a good season. Then again, perhaps we will rise to the challenge and finally put a convincing performance together ?

As has been commented, I have no idea what the formation or starting line up will be, but I would like to see us play two strikers, whether Vaughan and Ferrier or Vaughan and a false nine (Woolery, CBT). Vaughan was ridiculously isolated again yesterday and was feeding off scraps.

I think six or seven points would be a good return from the three home games coming up. Whether we are capable of getting them is another matter.

We've not got a great home record against FGR, think the only win was courtesy of Ollie Banks long-range effort in the play-off semi. Aside from those Sparky mentions, I don't recognise any of the Forest Green squad, but they are going well.

Like everyone else no idea how we'll line up for this game. I'd agree with two up front either as 442 or a diamond but not feeling confident.

KH will probably continue to tinker with the squad but one thing is for sure, we will struggle to create chances and score goals. Common pattern under KH if you ignore the games against the kids.

I wonder if the game will be in doubt with the amount of rain recently and forecast to be raining all day. I know it's a nre pitch but it want looking too good last couple of games.

6 or 7 points from the 3 games you have to attack and score goals to do that haven't stopped laughing lol the amount of rain forecast today and also tomorrow even with good drainage and a good pitch I can't see it going ahead, sorry to say if it does go ahead we will lose

I think the drainage will be adequate to cope with the rain but I was also a bit surprised to see the pitch cutting up a bit last few games. No expert on these pitches but I thought this type of pitch was like a carpet year round?

It has looked very heavy on the JK side for a few weeks now, albeit some of the recent games that have gone ahead after heavy rain would definitely have been postponed last season.

Hopefully we see some evidence of the expressive football on the pitch some time soon. That is all that counts.

I share Sparky' feelings about Cooper.

sour grapes in his interview saying the league 2 semi final defeat was unfair. A load of rubbish.

they beat us at Wembley fair and square, no issues with that. But we deserved to beat them in the league 2 semis

Yes, we comprehensively outplayed them in both games.

For all the negativity at the moment, if we could somehow win tonight it would be a huge boost, with two home games against fairly mediocre teams to follow.

Yes I agree RLC. And football being the way it is would I be surprised if we played well and beat them after recent form? Probably not.

I just hope whatever system or personnel that we test their keeper.

They will come and battle and will be up for the scrap. I hope the lads are prepared to dig deep and be ready to fight!

I think it is crucial that we don't concede the first goal. With their time wasting antics and our lack of creativity, it could be a long night if we go behind early on.
