Options for Season Ticket Holders

There has been a message posted on the Rovers website about refunds for season ticket holders, which has caused some controversy. In essence, season ticket holders have various options with what to do with the residue of their season-ticket fee for the first half of the season, after deductions made for the Ifollow pass and 'free' e-programme. These amount to writing what's left off or getting vouchers to be used at the club and anyone who doesn't respond by next Monday will be deemed to have agreed to letting the club keep the money.

Personally, at present, I can afford to let them keep the money, but a number of supporters are not happy about this arrangement and the communication from the club is poor.

I think legally the club are not obliged to offer refunds, or even discounts of the type described.

The club expected that fans would be back in the ground in October and could not really foresee the current situation. If we had to refund 50% of the ticket sales we would be in dire financial straits. I think the club is in an impossible situation really.

In the summer I said that I considered that my ticket purchase was effectively a donation to the club to keep it going. I would guess that, if they are honest, most supporters saw the situation the same way.

I agree, I think the club are in a no-win situation, but the problem is that they have moved the goalposts and that gets peoples backs up:

We do want to reassure supporters that in renewing early, we are committed to ensuring that no one loses out financially if the new season starts behind closed doors. So, if, for example, we cannot allow paying crowds in for the next six months of next season, then we would offer season ticket holders a free half season ticket for the following season, to compensate for the missed matches. Equally, if anyone has renewed a season ticket but subsequently find that they need the cash, we will look to refund those who request it.

So we are being charged £10 per iFollow match and £2 per programme which had also previously been mentioned as 'free'.
I'm not really that fussed about a £2.84 shortfall per match but you can see why people would be a little miffed as they are going to lose out financially after being told one thing and then doing another.

I think the club need to be careful because this will put people off renewing again.

I think we need to consider that the situation is very volatile at present and circumstances may have changed a lot since those initial announcements were made.

I am sure the initial promises were made in good faith.

I'm sure they were but they have to understand some supporters will not be as forgiving. The last set of supporters you want to anger is the ones that have shown financial commitment.

I have no personal interest as such, not being a season ticket holder. However, this appears to have the potential to raise a major rift with some of te fan base. There are going to be various views of this across the season ticket holders depending on perspective and circumstance, and the Club need to address this quickly or, at the very least, risk losng a lot of goodwill. Worst case is that any loss of goodwill translates into a reduction of future revenues viaa reduced ST sales next season.

Looks like they may be offering alternatives after the initial statement went down like a lead balloon.
