Now we’ve had time to reflect on last nights debacle, where do we go from here?

Should Jackson be given more time to work with the squad or should he be sacked immediately?

From the games I have watched it appears that unfortunately MJ doesnt possess the ability to manage the team. The style of football is awful, and it doesnt look like this is going to change. Based on the comments from MP and the investment he has made in the squad, surely he cant let this situation carry on, as before too long it will be too late to think about the play offs, never mind automatic promotion.

Sack him hes shown nothing to suggest he has any real plan or any idea what he is doing for that matter.

I wonder what MP is thinking now. He can’t be impressed with what he’s watched this season or does he buy into Jackos lame excuses ?

As he has allowed Jacko to assemble a decent squad on paper & watch us be poor nearly all season so far he must have big concerns he is the right man for the job.

Whether or not he is sacked this week, I am not sure MP can believe there will be sufficient improvement from our current level of performance to mount a promotion challenge. There is nothing positive to cling on to in the displays.

Unfortunately I'd have to agree and say that he's best moving on, based on whats happened so far. I say Unfortunately because I really like Jacko and will be forever grateful in the undoubted role he played in our back to back promotions. He no doubt loves and wants the best for the club, but he does appear to be out of his depth.

So I've heard Challinor and McGreal mentioned on another thread, who else would you guys suggest to be a decent appointment if and when Jacko leaves. Neither of those inspire me either by the way but I suppose we have to be realistic. I'd love the Cowleys but as mentioned before, likely to be out of our price range although they will realise the potential of the club, and know that MP is a great Chairman to work for.

Tisdale for me. If he is not available, Flitcroft or Hill could do a reasonable job.

We need to see a serious upturn in results in the coming three or four games.

Otherwise i would be speaking to Paul Cook

every manager who gets appointed is a gamble no matter who the club is, can mark carry on with jacko in the hope he turns it round ? good job no fans are allowed in at present as the atmosphere would be toxic, as for the cowleys and money they wont have come away from Huddersfield skint so may see rovers as a good step back in the game, do they still live in Lincoln by the way?

I am not sure what another three or four games would tell us that we don't know already.

It is highly unlikely the Cowleys will be interested in the job; they will receive plenty of offers from Championship and League One clubs when vacancies start to arise.

While MJ is still in the job I’m not jumping on any bandwagon. He’s under enough pressure already. MP will know more than us about the true situation and I trust him to take whatever actions are necessary.

I’ve never seen so many posts come through after a midweek match but that’s not surprising. At least I’ve plenty to keep me occupied in hospital! Just about to go home to recuperate. Great care from the NHS.

Cowley was always complimentary about our club but as RLC says he may be waiting for a better offer. Although be at fancy a bit of a project to try and make us an established championship club (one can only hope).

If not I’d go for cook but again Possibly unrealistic. Therefore Keith hill perhaps more a obvious choice. From the north west, knows the league, has promotion experience too

yes, it would be great getting the Cowley brothers, but looks like he will get more time and time the club won't have if things keep going wrong.

Something I don't understand about Jackson's appointment is that MP referred to him as the candidate who gave us 'continuity' with the Mellon era.

However, Jackson's approach is actually the complete antithesis of Mellon's. Under MM we played a high tempo, high energy game and pressed teams high up the pitch. Under MJ we sit deep and invite pressure.

It is difficult to see where the continuity is, which leads me to wonder whether playing style was actually discussed in the five hours of interviews with Jacko, and whether the process was not fundamentally flawed.

I think the continuity was more focused on the ethos of the club as I remember Mark commenting on this at the time. It was a big thing for MP and rightly so. Micky was a master at this. He made sure everyone at the club knew what it meant to be part of Tranmere Rovers but he was also a very good people person and manager (remember those people calling for his head not so long ago, you should always be careful what you wish for!).

I've no doubt MJ spoke very well at the interview, the ethos was there and they may have talked tactics for hours but ultimately the proof is in the pudding and that pudding is well off! MP must have knew the risks on punting for an unproven manager, some say the cheap, easy option but I don't think anyone envisaged it to be this bad.

I can't work out what is going on with MJ and the players. Do they just not respect him or like him enough to perform or are they just simply confused at what he wants them to do? I can't believe a team of professionals can be that bad over 90 minutes.
