Rovers make the trip to Cambridge on Saturday looking for a reaction to last weeks dismal result and poor first half showing v Cheltenham. I assume that CBT and Ferrier still aren’t available but hopefully feeney can start and Woolery May put in an appearance. Jacko was asked pre match about the new squad needing time to gel and felt it was a valid point, yet last week the problems were defensively and our keeper plus 4 out of the back 5 were here last season so no excuses there (although spearing had a nightmare in front of them).

The hosts have an in form Paul mullin up front and are full of confidence. They sit top with two wins from two and an impressive goal difference of plus 8 already.
Some would say early days still and unfair to judge Jacko, but a defeat with a scoreline and performance similar to last week will have more Serious questions asked. Will he play 5-4-1 again? Will Davies keep his place? Is Jacko actually up to being a number one? Time will tell.

I fear the worst but hope that whatever the formation we can put on a well-organised display. It’s difficult to know where the goals are going to come from. I can’t remember a goal drought like it. Only two in eight games, including pre-season, must be worrying for all concerned.

Paul Mullin and Paul Lewis swapped clubs in the summer and will both want to impress. We’ll do well to stop the in-form Mullin.

I think the problem we have ahead of this game is that no system we have used this season has looked effective. We were all over the place defensively with five at the back last week, we struggle to create when Vaughan is isolated as a lone front man, and the midfield has been overrun when Spearing has played in a central pairing.

In addition to Mullin, ex-Norwich midfielder Wes Hoolihan has been in good form for Cambridge.

It is likely we will lose given the form of the two sides, but I just hope we resemble a football team this week.

It's hard to feel optimistic for this one. I would probably look for a fairly defensive set-up, like Ian start Feeney, play someone up with Vaughan and leave Spearing back on Wirral working on his fitness.

Surely Jacko will play two up front today?
Somehow I fear he won't however especially after listening to his pre match interview where he he seems to think that aside from last week we have played well so far this season! Feeney will clearly start and will improve things but despite that I fear we will lose 2-0 with Mullin scoring the first...

Banks recalled but it looks like 451, with Vaughan upfront. Ridehalgh preferred at left back.

OK, one up front but at least we should be able to push forward with five in midfield and support Vaughan. Glad Lewis is not in the starting XI, not been impressed with him. We also have Payne and Woolery as options from the bench.

Not a bad start from Rovers. Passing is around well, had a few half chances already and hit the crossbar from a corner. Much more positive.

Great chance for Vaughan there. Great ball through the two defenders to Vaughan but he couldnt quite keep it under control. Corner comes to nothing.

Lucky for Rovers. Hannant with a free shot on goal and he blazes it over.
