Sadly, another former Rover has died. I remember him as a diminutive but fast left winger. My best memory was seeing him cross the ball for Alan King to head in the equaliser against Coventry in the FA Cup at Highfield Road when they were in the top flight. Like for George Yardley, the fans a song "Graham Williams, hallelujah, hallelujah!"

I agree BBTC. Alan King was a good player. As I said in an earlier string I was standing in the Cowshed right in line behind Graham when he scored a long range stunner to beat Huddersfield in the third round. I still remember that game as a highlight in watching Rovers. Another was the 4-2 win against Brighton around 1965. They had former internationals Bobby Smith and Mel Hopkins in the side. In the days when top players needed to drop down the divisions as they needed the money. A bit different today! It was a Friday night game, with a crowd of at least 15k. What an atmosphere!

I remember that Brighton game too. Sadly we lost the return controversially and stayed down as Brighton went up as champions.

Sorry to hear this news. I top was at the Huddersfield game and almost next to him when he go the ball and set himself for the long range winner. Strangley i googled him a few months a go and hadn't realised he had played for Everton previpusly.
