Clearly not as good as DAVIES based on what? Did Tranmere lose when he played? How many shots did he save versus screw up. Can you provide stats on shots saved versus screw ups? Technically", no games we're lost when he was in goal... How many mess ups did Davies commit? I think stats tell us a lot more than opinion.
Based on the fact that the manager is picking Davies ahead of him. That will do for me.

So you agree therefore that picking Taylor was sensible because the manager picked him. That ends all previous discussions regarding Pilling.

I think it was sensible to bring in a loan keeper in place of Davies as I said many times.

Do I think Taylor is as good as Davies ? No, and neither does the manager.

The Manager is picking his number one. He also decided that Pilling was not his number two. End of.

By that comment you would appear to accept that the manager made an error by making Pilling his no 2 at the start of the season!!

Neither of whom are as good as Davies (although Pilling is still developing), something you seemed to be arguing vehemently against in your post above.

Davies was the number 1 despite his flaws. Piling is young and not quite ready. Taylor replaced the number 1, despite his flaws. Taylor did OK, and Tranmere didn't lose any games he played in, despite his flaws.

Mellon decided to stick with his own number 1, despite his flaws, because it is dumb to have your contracted goalkeeper replaced by a loan player.

In the meantime it makes sense to send your inexperienced goalkeeper out on loan to gain game time.

Manny Monthe signs on loan from Forest Green for the rest of the season.

Central defender, don’t know much about him, played in last season’s play-off final and has already been sent off twice this season.

With Gumbs out for the rest of the season and McEveley rightly out of favour, a good player to have as cover. Don’t think McNulty or Sutton should be dislodged at the back on current form and we don’t really have anyone suited to right wing-back to switch to 3 at the back, so he may spend some time bench-warming.

From what I remember he is a giant.

Interesting as you do wonder whether he would be happy coming to warm our bench.

Forest Green fans seem mostly favourable, though he is prone to lapses of concentration. Might give us some pace at the back.

Looks like he may have fallen out of favour through on field disciplinary issues. Pretty ironic given FGR's approach at PP the last couple of seasons!
I do hope that Sutton isn't sacrificed to accommodate him. He's been a top performer this season.
Good signing though, sure he'll be ok if/when called upon.

Sad to hear Kirby has done his medial ligaments. I’m assuming this isn’t connected to his broken leg.

On the subject of keepers, whilst I’m not directly blaming Nixon, Davies has had some issues this season and Taylor didn’t look too great at times.

I would question Nixon to be honest. The pre-match routine with the players is non-existent and it makes you wonder if he has the same casual attitude in training.

Nixon is pointless. I'm afraid employing him was one of the 'jobs for the boys'.
