Desperately disappointing and simply not good enough.

We are now ninth.

The club opened up the pitch for booking out this week just passed, with games starting from the end of this month. Kind of says it all about our expectations going into this game!

We are desperately lacking in quality and confidence going forwards. It's a huge testament to Sidibe that he's back playing football despite a horrific run of injuries (remember when he got stabbed by a fan?!) but he really isn't ready for first team football even at this level. Regrettably, at 33, I think his time may be up. Must also admit I'm starting to fear a similar fate for Robbo, who seems to be in rapid decline.

I missed the penalty because I was late to the game, but generally thought Gibbo lead the back line very well today. It would be wonderful if we could get him back next year, but if Boro have any sense they will find a place for him. At this point it's all about looking forward to next season I guess. I think Kay, Harrison and Amoo will definitely leave. If Thompson can find a club I expect we'll allow him to leave for free, and Zoum isn't looking likely to sign. So we have a little to work with there.

What utter crap. 4 games lost 1-0 at a time when just three points would have made a difference.

We can make all the excuses we like about injuries, tiredness, loss of form etc, but with the other scores today we had a golden opportunity to get ourselves back in the hunt. Instead of which, we are behind Orient. We had better players on the pitch than Hartlepool but too many simply did not perform.

In the first half I thought we spent 35 minutes feeling sorry for ourselves after the (ludicrous) penalty decision, which we could not afford to do given the circumstances. After the break we had a go, but did not get behind their back four often enough, and when we did get deliveries into the box the ball was not attacked. I thought Ash and Danny Holmes were our best players.

I just hope this run of form does not spill over to next season.

Since January the form reads...

WLWLWLLLLWDLWLLWLLLL

So over 20 games that's

6 wins
1 draw
13 defeats

19 points out of 60. That's total relegation form. Not sure I can arsed going to the morgue that will be Bournemouth. Really pissed off and it's the apparent lack of fight and any sort of capability that annoys me the most.

First time there has been lots of boos at the end and deservedly so....that was a pathetic performance by a pathetic team. Once we were 1-0 it was all over really, and that was the annoying bit, had we lost 1-0 or 21-0 it didnt matter, this was the game we had to win, we should have camped in their box the 2nd half, but we didnt...](*,)

Another year in league 1, and though i doubt he will, i hope RM recognises where we need to strengthen next season (ie midfield!). Renewed our STs before the game, wished i hadnt been so keen now!

Such an anticlimax to a season, think that was our only chance at getting up, next season i have a feeling normal service will be resumed, and it will be midtable mediocrity for us again

Incidentally, I thought it was great that James got a sporting ovation form our fans when he was substituted. Slogged his guts out in the lone striker role for a team that will be relegated anyway.

If only we had shown the same character......

That's a very interesting point actually. Yes, we have been punching above our weight blah blah but you would hope for something more than we are getting now.

It's truly dreadful, and we can't score a goal. We must be one of the worst form teams in the division right now.

Can only agree with the comments above. How come we spent an entire first half pissing around and getting the run around from their no.33?

There was no confidence, conviction or positivity in our play at all.

Well if our form continues as it is it will be mid table mediocrity this season as we may well end up about 12th. Savour that. Check the table.

Very true. It's galling to be honest. Especially when you receive an email from James Wallace guaranteeing 100% commitment from the players. Marketing bullsh*t.

Realistically, we won't have a better start to a season probably ever! It will certainly be normal service resumed next season. Let's just hope we don't end up with a fight on our hands.

You go 1-0 down at home to a team like that you're never going to be getting in behind. They will sit. We needed a bit of creativity, quick incisive passing around their penalty area, good deliveries/set pieces, good long range shooting. We did none of these things and they defended well.

Although having seen the penalty decision on tv, we were v unlucky to be 1 down in the first place, which irreversibly changed the game.

I just think too many players at the moment are down in the dumps and failing to do the basic things that make a massive difference in games.

Against a poor team like Hartlepool it does not necessarily take silky skill to create an opening. Just by discomfiting the back four you can create confusion, force errors. Wingers have got to be prepared to attack full backs, midfield players have to carry the ball at times and commit opponents, forwards and midfielders have to attack balls into the box. If a team is sitting deep it is only by having the courage to do something different that you will drag opposing players out of position and create opportunities. Our players are not willing to do this at the moment and too many are losing their individual battles on the pitch.

And that is without even mentioning our failure to respond to second balls in our own box (ie. the penalty today, the goal at Doncaster, numerous other goals conceded from set plays recently.....).

Far too many players are playing poorly and have been for a time now. We are getting beat against poor teams who look better than us which is the most annoying thing.

The midfield was poor again Palmer was badly lacking and power wasnt much better, dont think anybody played particulary well. The wide mean were poor and Sidibe is a waste of space now.

We have blown a great chance of making the play offs in what is a fairly poor league this season.

They are down there for a reason. Before today they had only won eight games. We needed to be up and at them from the start and like you say, giving the back four a torrid time.

We saw that in patches in the second half but it was a stroll in the park for them in the first half. I think we mustered two saves from the keeper all game. Sad to see.

Our current form is dismal, but it still compares favourably to a record of 9 points from 18 games under Les prior to his dismissal, so I suppose we should be thankful for small mercies.

I am concerned, though, that if there is a hangover into next season we might find ourselves at the wrong end of the table early on.

Transport difficulties meant I missed a game for the second week running, though it doesn't sound like an improvement over any of the recent showings.

On reaching Wirral, I spent some time with my Dad instead, who's not in good health. Despite being a Red, he took me to my first Tranmere games and initiated the love of my home club. Rovers have been through worse times than this. Despite sharing the frustrations of being unable to consolidate on a very good start, there are always things more important than football.
