I see what you mean RLC but the reality is that a worldie and a duff goalkeeper cost them. Mane hit the post after their best player was, even if unintentionally, taken out of the game. What that points to is the quality of the bench. Real's was obviously better. Real won it in the middle of the field where, in the absence of Coutinho and Oxlaide-Chamberlain, Liverpool had hard working competent triers. There is no substitute for class at any level, as we have found in our own league.
In my view Real are just a better team, in the first eleven and in the wider squad. Coutinho is no longer a Liverpool player, so you might as well argue that Madrid were missing De Stefano and Luis Figo. Oxlade-Chamberlain is not in the same class as Kroos either. How many games has he even played in centre midfield ?
Liverpool are not on the same level as Madrid. Sometimes you just have to accept the better team won and move on. Something a lot of Liverpool supporters seem unable to do. We have not made excuses for our failures, so why should they ?
Anyway, back to the Mighty Whites which is what this site is for.
I was in the seats behind the dugouts at Wembley. The sight of MM turning to orchestrate the Rovers fans in the last twenty minutes will stay with me for a long time. I doubt we will have another day like that in our supporting lifetimes.
