Maybe another case of a Manager chosen on reputation as a player? We suffered that with Barnes and McAteer. Neville at Valencia, Henry at Monaco etc. Let us hope the Oldham team lose again on Saturday after one win in seven! Scholes probably has more money than you can poke a stick at so easy for people like him to to bail out when the going gets a bit tough. Blame the owner!

I would not blame Scholes, as the new chairman at Oldham appears to be an irresponsible lunatic. I don't think any manager can work with him.

I was surprised he took the job. Yes it’s his home town club but he had a nice comfortable job on the tv.

He never came across to me as someone who would have the right personality to be a top manager

The talks for Scholes to become manager lasted longer than he did in the role ! clearly issues with the new chairman

Thirty-one days is hardly enough time, but we don't know what happened behind the scenes. I expect the owner broke a promise or interfered once too often. We'll have to wait for his autobiography.

In fairness, I've always thought Scholes had a good football brain and was one of the better breed of Man U / England footballers. Yes, he could have been paid a packet just for appearing on TV slagging off other players and managers. Instead, he decided to have a go at his hometown club, the club he supported as a boy. You've got to admire him for that.

Whether he could make it as a manager, who knows? But remember what a mess Solksjaer made of his time at Cardiff. Now look at him. Being a successful manager is as much about the club as the man. It's like a marriage. They must be thinking the same way and working in the same direction.

Hopefully on Saturday there could be some animosity towards the owners as a result which could help us

Yes, it would be terrible if it was postponed given our position and with such a big following expected. If the game does go ahead, I am not sure that the departure of Scholes will affect us negatively. There is very little time between now and Saturday for a caretaker to make an impact.

Going briefly off topic, I think we would all agree that Scott Davies has been in the best form of his Tranmere career in the last few weeks. I think the general upturn in form of the team and the responsibility of the captaincy has something to do with it, but I think the change of goalkeeping coach has also helped him. I still don't know what Eric Nixon did to earn a wage and I was quite happy to see him leave in all honesty.

A protest has been organised by the Oldham Supporters' Trust. I think it involves chucking their scarves on the pitch and an early walkout from the stadium.

Let's hope the game is on. There looks to be all sorts of shennanigans going on behind the scenes. Amazing what a dedicated, level headed chariman can do to a football club.

yes scottie has been in superb form . and it was good seeing him having a go at others the other night . with not following up in the pen area . we havent had a vocal captain in years its good to have it now . him and the back four have been superb in recent weeks

Oldham have their own climate, so who knows. Fingers crossed it's on.

have been on the Oldham forum and as others have said we took a gamble with barnes, what comes apparent is the way mark & Nicola palios go about their business the Oldham chairman seems a right character along with the macc chairman we really have to count our blessings,

Can’t see the game being on. I’m driving there and getting there early to park up as we’re taking so many but the forecast is awful

My nearest game this season, but, due to persisting virus, won't be there tomorrow if the rain holds off. Given my recent away record, this is probably not a bad thing.

Pete Wild, who was in charge during their recent cup run, takes temporary charge of The Latics again. Probably the best short-term option they could have in the circumstances. It will be interesting to see if any of the threatened fan protests actually happen. Ex-Rover Jose Baxter won't feature for the home side after being sent off at Lincoln.

Expecting an unchanged Rovers xi, Morris likely to be fit and probably earning a place on the bench. Another excellent away turnout from the SWA expected, hoping to see another win.
