Watched the League 2 play offs last night and noticed some familiar faces in the teams. The majority played quite well, but one name unfortunately stands out in the papers today. Neil Ashton - he looped a back pass over his keeper's head for the winning goal as his Shrewsbury side lost to Bury. Gutted for the lad as he had a decent game and looked distraught at the end that his mistake might end up costing his side a trip to Wembley.

Shrews also had Kevin McIntyre in their ranks who had a decent game in midfield. I remember him as a young left back but he's obviously progressed since his early days at Prenton Park. The Bury team had Mike Jones who had a good game and hit a wonderful, Ronaldo-esque free kick inches wide. Might have been a mistake releasing him cos he looked good imo.

In the other match Chrissy Dagnall was playing for Rochdale. I've always liked Daggers but he doesn't seem as sharp these days. He had a decent chance saved by the keeper but other than that was pretty quiet.

Yeah, Jonah had a good game. He's certainly better than Sonko, but you win some and you lose some. He might have wanted first team football and we couldn't really offer that with Shuker on our books and Moore playing wide-right quite often at the time.

Ashton was awful  Jenno was tacking the mick out of him on facebook...

Didn't think Ashton played that badly, monster gaffe aside. McIntyre got the Shrews tie equaliser at Bury. Jones should have been given more chances with Rovers rather than playing Myrie-Williams on the 'wrong' wing. Ronnie favours that approach given Barnetts selection on the left in the later games this season
