No apologies for starting this thread early as I think it's now time to forget the past week and look ahead.

In some ways, this game has come at a good time. It's a tough away game, so no-one will get too upset with Micky if we lose. He will have a chance to take a few risks. That said, we are overdue a decent cup run. The last one was in 2003-04, when Micky was still playing. I remember fondly seeing him score the winner in the fourth round tie at Luton. The fans could do with something to cheer about and the club could do with the cash from a televised clash with a top EPL side. But we need to win at least three matches before that is possible. Certainly, we've got the players to make that happen and MM has a good track record in the FA Cup. So I'm going to be optimistic and say we'll shade a close game 2-1.

At this stage, I'm not too worried about playing too many fixtures. We don't want to get knocked out of both cups in the first round and end up with blank Saturdays.

Not the draw, I'd have chosen, a difficult game. It's unclear which of the loanees can be selected, maybe Jones, who's with us until January. So unless Norwood is fit, MM could have fewer options, even if Lois is back from international duty. Micky's got a reputation for flexibility in team selection, so there may be a few changes.

I'm expecting us to lose this, anything else will be a good result.

Barrow are unbeaten at home in fifteen matches, a record stretching back to last February, and will feel they owe us one after the events at Holker Street last season. With a weakened squad this will certainly be a tough game. However, I hope we at least put in a decent performance, as it is important to get some momentum under the new manager. I would take a replay now.

Difficult to say how many Rovers fans will travel: prior to Micky's appointment I would have said no more than 400, but perhaps we will take a few more now.

A draw might not be a bad result, if we can avoid more injuries and suspensions. An extra game would help Micky get to know the players.

Tough game so it will certainly be interesting to see how we fair with MM in charge. Although to be fair, we were never that bad away from home with GB in charge although I'd like us to be a bit more competitive.

5-0 to them with 5 minutes to go. 6-5 to Tranmere after 8 minutes added on time

Norwood still out injured according to Micky, but all of the loan players available to play.

Interesting choices to make then. If there is to be experimenting, better in this than a league game. Picking the strongest side would see Maynard return in a central midfield spot.

With MM in charge, if we lose I'll see it as bit of a blip and a shrug of the shoulders.
Had GB still been here and we lose I'd be arm waving hysterically and incandescent with rage!
If the draw was on a plate right now I think I'd happily take it.
What place for Carden in the dugout now Jackson with us?

Maynard replaces Kirby, the only change to the starting xi. Wonder how they'll line up, 451?

Yes,it will be interesting to see who plays where, particularly as we have no specialist wide players. I would expect to see Mekki and Stephenson at some stage. At least we have the luxury of seven on the bench in the FA Cup.

Maybe Tollitt and Maynard wide in a 3-5-1 or Tollitt and Cook up front in a 4-4-2 (less likely).

Tollitt can play as a forward, as BBTC suggests. Good to see Mekki fit enough to make the bench, interesting seeing Ilesamni making the subs ahead of Ethan Jones.

While not surprised at the result, it seems we set up fairly negatively. Ihiekwe picked up a booking so defensive reshuffle for our trip to the midlands. Will be interested hearing from attenders, as it didn't sound like much had changed, though MM like PC did try changing things with the subs.

According to twitter we were weak up top again with maybe a handful of shots all game. MM needs to improve the strike force. Simply not getting enough goals.
