    The Squad for 2018/19

I don't necessarily think there are substantial funds available. A lot of the players who have left will have been on low wages and a player like Perkins won't have come cheap. I would not be surprised if the financial impact of the incomings and outgoings is pretty much neutral.

    The Squad for 2018/19

The squad is still stronger than this time a week ago, so no need for negativity IMO. The only player I have been disappointed to lose is Cole, although I can see the reasons behind the decision. I still think there might be some further movement in the days ahead.

    The Squad for 2018/19

Akammadu is playing for the reserves at Stockport Town tonight, so is going nowhere for the moment.

I think his defending was better than average when he was here, hence he got a move to Aberdeen. He was not helped by being played out of position in midfield by Les Parry, a role he did not have the technical ability to play. I think he was a good player but I would not necessarily want him back.

    The Squad for 2018/19

A bit disappointed about Cole as our best performances of the season came when he played in the hole, in the games Boz mentions above. I would guess the problem was that unless we played that system which suited him perfectly, he could be pretty anonymous. Mellon probably wants more consistency...
  6. Rockfords Love Child

    Cheltenham v Rovers

It is both of these things going by recent interviews with Mellon and Palios. Banks, Miller, McCullough and Perkins have all got pedigree at higher levels and would be capable of playing in League One, provided they have still got the legs by the time we get there. I would imagine that...

I would be happy with the Taylor signing on purely footballing terms, as I always rated him as a defender. However, knowing the likely reaction of a section of our fanbase, I am not sure it would be a good idea.

    Cheltenham v Rovers

Yes, that is exactly what I thought. I think McNulty has been fine this season. He is still one of the first names on the teamsheet for me, and Micky I would guess.

    Cheltenham v Rovers

The major problem we have had defensively away from home in recent months has been in the full back areas, not at centre back.
  10. Rockfords Love Child

    Cheltenham v Rovers

I don't think the formation has anything to do with McNulty. We had to shore things up away from home because we were conceding goals irrespective of the personnel. Our worst defensive performance was in the second half at Grimsby when McNulty was off the pitch injured. That formation also gives...

I agree about Davies's distribution. A few of us have questioned exactly what Nixon was doing with the keepers. I personally thought McNulty was fine however.
  12. Rockfords Love Child

    Cheltenham v Rovers

I agree, but I think Caprice offers more going forward, so you can forgive his defensive frailties at times.

    Cheltenham v Rovers

In a 532 it is difficult for the left sided midfielder to protect the wing back (think it was Perkins) as he is playing narrow. In that system the left back is going to find himself one-on-one at times and he just has to stand up defensively on those occasions. However, I don't want to be too...
  14. Rockfords Love Child

    Cheltenham v Rovers

A great result, which did not look likely at half time in all honesty. While we had the better chances, I thought Cheltenham were the better side in the first period in terms of shape and possession. They are a reasonable side now, which makes this result all the more impressive. After half time...

He has had seventeen clubs, but only played sixty games in total for the lot of them.
  16. Rockfords Love Child

    Cheltenham v Rovers

Immense second half from Rovers. Nors and Miller caused havoc, and Banks was class and makes such a difference for us. Both new signings impressed.
  17. Rockfords Love Child

    Cheltenham v Rovers

Pretty even half, after a poor first fifteen minutes. We had probably had the best chances prior to the goal, which was very poor defensively, but looked offside. Miller looks a handful and has had a couple of good shots on goal, Perkins quiet but a couple of nice through balls. Need to get to...

Jennings injured, replaced by Miller. 532 with Banks, Perkins and McCullough in midfield.

    The Squad for 2018/19

It is exactly what Koumas did a number of years ago. He signed a new long term deal which inflated his transfer value, but he was gone within a couple of months. I think Norwood does feel some loyalty to the club, or he would simply have refused to sign. It is not as if he will be short of...
