Bad news for the club not just me, i've spoken to nearly a dozen people who are of the same view as i am. If Barnes comes in then they will not go while he is in charge. If they are trying to blame Ronnie Moore for falling gates then way to go PJ because you have just lost 12 more fans 2 months before the season has already started (Thats if the Barnes rumours are true).

We should get Whitmore not Barnes!
If his managerial style is anything like his playing style, we would be in trouble. That was one lazy Jamaican! lol

Just been reading an interesting disscussion on the Reaggae Boyz website and its seems that there fans are genuinely upset Barnes is leaving, although they are excited that ablack player is to manage in the English football league. It seems in there opinion that Barnes made Jamaica into a team that wwas very difficult to beat and played some good attacking football.
I appreciate that Barnes may not be everyones first choice but I think he may desrve a chance. Yes he made a hash of it at Celtic but how many managers are there who continually make a hash of it but still get an opportunity? e.g Hoddle, Roedder? Think bthis could be the beginning of something good, Barnes will want too prove he has what it takes to manage and I doubt he would come to the club unless he had been guarranteed to get some money for transfers. Also he may have some interesting links with clubs around America and South America.

Keep the faith folks, PJ will steer us on!\\:D/

lol, no, Barnes won't get any money for transfers. PJ will not invest any more money into the club (fact) and if you are suggesting that outside investment is imminent then you might want to prepare yourself for disappointment.

Barnes will more than likely have the same budget that Ronnie would have inherited had he stayed. He's not that big a name and has basically no managerial credentials or experience - we wouldn't exactly need to push the boat out to attract someone like him. Besides, he's openly admitted to applying for similar jobs in the past (Port Vale spring to mind). It's not as if we're appointing Jose Mourinho.

PJ will steer us nowhere - he doesn't even want to be here. The sooner he finds a buyer the better.

I love the way football fans can't wait to stick the knife in before he's even been appointed! We don't know how anyone will do unless they're given a chance. He might do an incredible job and get us promoted, you never know. I'm just asking you give the man a chance.

And as for "fans" saying they will stay away if Barnes is appointed. I support the football club. I've not always liked some of the owners, the players, the managers (Dave Watson springs to mind) but players managers and owners come and go, Tranmere Rovers will always be there, and we will always be Tranmere Rovers fans.

It's for people to make up their own minds. For me appointing the man whose main contribution to football management thus far is when in charge of Celtic losing to ICT and prompting the "Super Cally go ballistic, Celtic are atrocious" headline does not inspire confidence. Especially if his assistant is Jason McAteer, a footballer allegedly not the brightest and with a 100% loss rate in charge of Rovers...Ok it was only for one game ;-)

Before we all get on PJ's back from what I have heard he is looking for one last hurrah with Rovers. He might be willing to wipe his 6 million debt at somepoint and is hoping to use the money from Ingelborough training ground to buy players etc. He and Ronnie do not get on and PJ sacked him when he was assistant to John King after he found him face down in PP car park drunk. I would rather Ronnie went now then when the two fell out in October or at some other daft time.

Barnes may or may not be a good appointment (I'm not particulary in favour of it but I'm willing to back him as I don't see the point in undermining him from the start as we will end up like Newcastle sacking a manager every 6 months) I too read the Reggae Boyz website and that was the impression I got as well.

I disagree that PJ does not want to be at Tranmere. Yes he is looking to sell - but that is for the clubs good as his wealth is declining. He does care a lot about Tranmere, having seen him after Scunny he looked and sounded just as upset as every other fan. We could have far worse owners/chairman then PJ.

My problem is who will assist Barnes, I fear McAteer will be a disaster. Perhaps appointing Ray Mathias to provide expierence and inside knowledge of the lower leagues would be a good idea.

So Barnes wanted to stay on until the Gold Cup in July THEN start with us. We obviously dont need any pre-season.......I've got such a horrible feeling about this. If we dont hit the ground running relegation is going to be a real possibility. It would be no surprise at all if Ray Mathias wasnt being brought in to try to rescue us by the end of next season.

It's about time McManaman was linked with buying us again. It must be 12 months since this one reared it's head. I have to say it's the biggest load of tosh imaginable. If it happens I'll show my ar5e in WHSmiths window (no Woolworth's anymore)

Reading Barnes' comments doesn't fill me with confidence. If there is new investment and they wanted a change of boss, surely we'd have already heard about it . Common sense suggests you wait til the money's in then make changes. Can't see how a manager who's lack of L1 knowledge and laid back approach can improve on last season, especially with a disdainful approach to our pre-season. Afraid I share TRFC Ian's view on the prospects under Barnes and cannot fathom why PJ if he's wanting to sell is going down this route.

Ha ha ha The old rumour surfaces again!!!! I think a change in owners is well down the list at the moment think about it folks, why would Barnes take the job if Johnson was intending to sell up, he would likely as not be booted out as soon as somone new comes in. I would like to think that PJ wants to go out with a bang. And agree with how he looked at Scunny. Dont understand how people can say we will be relegated this year because of Barnes, a ball has not even been kicked yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He has not even taken charge or started to build his own team...............I know the majority of you are unhappy with his appointment but walking away from the club is a ridiculous idea. You support the club not the manager or the players as they come and go, some are good some are bad, but the club is always there and is ultimately what you will hurt without your support.
But it is your decision we dont live in North Korea!
