It's refreshing to see so much agreement in this forum. On the PR side, they should have known the news would leak out and put something out before Sky and the Echo. Lack of respect to Les, the players and all the fans. A simple statement with thanks to Les would have been enough pending a later announcement about succession.

I hope a quick appointment is made, but they will do well to get someone in by Tuesday.

What I think we need is an experienced manager at this level or just below. An internal appointment to the end of the season would be disastrous. Summerfield and McMahon are at least as much to blame as Les for the tactics and recent poor performances.

Ideally, it would be great if PJ showed enough commitment to give the new man a two an a half year contract. The deal is for less I doubt we'll attract anyone worth employing. Why risk your reputation if you are offered a deal to the end of the season?

Ironically, I think it may be easier to attract someone now than it was when JB left. Club finances are better than most of our rivals and thanks to Les, the squad overall is stronger.

For what it's worth I'd like to echo the thoughts of most on here in that it is always sad to see someone lose their job and that Parry is a good man who has done his best in the job. Remember the excellent job he did in reversing the appalling state the club was left in after Barnes and McAteer. BUT... time was running out and it was clear that he had no answer to the horrendous slide we have been on. Lets hope whoever comes in can have an impact.

Don,t think PJ will go outside tranmere for a new man imo

Probably have a go himself ...i

Shaun Garnet possibly as long as he can go back to his safe seat in the reserves..

Id Give SG safe assurances, then sack him at the end of the season anyway...when the ship goes down then all on board ,no looking after number one ,s here..

God i,m nearly as ruthless as PJ..

Good job its only a game ..?

Agree with the common consensus about Les. He had to go but lets remember him for his loyalty and comedy programme notes!

Turning to a replacement, lot of people said PJ wasn't arsed about us going down so credit to him for making the change and sacking a club legend.

My preference would be Ince or Martin Allen. Both know the lower leagues and have been successful in their own right. Plus Ince has worked with Mathias so bring him in as assistant.

As for mad dog Allen, we all remember that game last season where their tactics were disgraceful, but he had a job to keep notts up and did it. He brings personality and a good CV.

Ian Goodison... who else!
Sad for Les, an absolute Rovers legend, but there's no room for sentiment in football.

Now, will someone please get us out of this mess!

Seriously, I believe the players we've got are good enough to keep us up, and a change is as good as a rest as they say.

Cheers Les!

I'd find it hard to part with my money to watch a Rovers team managed by Mangy Dog.

Well its been a while but it feels great to be back.

It has to be Ince if he fancies it but I doubt we will get anyone who have us playing anything worth watching this season...

Feel for Les but obviously survival comes before everything else!!

Completely agree. Feel sad for him ending it this way, but when he took the job, this day was always going to come sooner or later. Thanks for the laughs Les. He's a realist and a positive fella, so I wish him good luck with his future pursuits.

All the negative Allen comments, which I do agree with. But for what end? We enter the fickle game of football, so if he joins and we do well, we'll all think he's great. I just want someone that will get us out of this mess and push on next season. We all agree we have a decent squad here, so I don't care who it is as long as the football and results improve.

Do you really think we can attract the likes of Allen and Ince to our club, considering the calibre of the last couple of managers we've had in? Maybe I'm underestimating the power of PJ! I really can't see it though..

I understand from County fans that Martin Allen's departure from Notts may have been for non-footballing reasons. He is too big a risk imo, setting aside any questions about the quality of football that would be on offer.

The sacking of a manager is a sad day for any football club. Sadder still that it's someone who has worked his socks off for the club he loves for nearly 20 years. Absolutely gutted he's gone, but totally understand why. Football is about results first and performances second. His position was untenable.

When the dust settles I hope people take time to reflect the job he did for us, taking up the challenge to sort out the mess left behind by two men who had dozens of international caps between them and reputations as big as their mouths.

We have a decent enough squad of players and a handful of promising young players. We are in a relegation fight and results have been poor. Les has paid the price. I hope the players can accept some of the blame.

No doubt we'll win the next three games under some caretaker boss.

On the other hand, I did see it on Sky, so it might all be bollox and Les might still be the manager.
I agree mate, it was the right decision, but Les has put his heart and soul into the rovers longer than the children at the back of the Kop who were singing we want Parry out have been alive.

So with that in mind, Big up Les Parry and all the best for the future.

Did you go to Oldham/Chesterfield? If so you would see it's been more than a few children singing for him to go.

What does the age of the fans have to do with anything anyway? Is their view any less important than yours because of it?

Anyway, onwards and upwards, Moore wouldnt be the number 1 choice but im confident he will keep us up and the players will work for him, something they hadnt been doing for Parry.
