Is there a lot to worry about?

Perhaps Allott was released not to allow money for new signings but to simply bring the clubs wage budget back in check.

I doubt we would have gone over our wage budget the board wouldnt have allowed it because if Allott hadnt been able to find a new club we would have had to pay out his wages for the whole year plus compensation to release him.

Thinking about it he wasn't released - Chesterfield took him on a free transfer. Therefore no compensation paid, we might have gone over budget to secure Mahon with a view to balancing it out later.

Hmm i dunno mate.

I dont think the club would have risked it, i mean there was no guarentee we would have been able to balance it out.

Unless chesterfield said they wanted him on a free and the club then realised there would be more wages to sign mahon and then after signing mahon allowed allott to transfer to chesterfield...

Add to that we sold Taylor for an alleged fee of £400,000 and you have to wonder if they're just being ultra careful on the spending. I know we have debts etc but it would be nice for the fans to see just a little investment in the team.

Worrying a litte less

From reading all the comments posted and ignoring obvious loyalties I think it is obvious that most people agree that we are in a bit of a state and so it may make sense to have a fairly large bet on Yeovil to beat us in the first game - it will pay for my season ticket at least so maybe things are not quite so bad after all. I'm reasonably confident that whatever we do in the Yeovil game we will improve upon.

Now dont get on your high horse about betting on Yeovil - it isnt disloyal its common sense,

Cheers Chaps.

Yeovil trading @ 13/8...and are also second favourites for the drop, if that gives you any sense of what they are expected to achieve this year. They've lost a lot of players over the summer, but managed to keep hold of full-backs Alcock and Smith who are both very good young players.

12/5 draw 2/1 Tranmere. Laying Yeovil looks like the best option to me, I disagree with you.

Always look on the bright side of life

Well, season ticket is paid for so its not all bad news. Things can only get better - and they will as soon as we lose Mcateer.

Still worried, the acid test is about to come

Pleasantly surprised at our 4-o win over a poorish Grimsby team. On reflection though Grimsby did have a fair number of chances and failed on each occasion, it would have been interesting if they had netted a couple.

Overall satisfied with getting through and playing some decent football. There were some nice passing movements, particularly when we bypassed Shuker - he is still a shocker, can't pass or shoot and is a coward to boot. I do hope someone can take him off our hands.

Looking forward to the challenge in the games against Gillingham and MK Dons and hoping we learn a lot more positives about the team.
