The worlds gone mad. Ramsey who has never been a real regular at Arsenal due to injuries signs a 4 year deal at juventus on £400k a week.

He has the likes of Khedira, Pjanic and Emre Can ahead of him so surely won’t be a regular in Serie A.

Crazy money for a squad player, albeit a decent one, but one with an injury hit past

400k a week is absolutely crazy. Maybe there's something we aren't seeing as other interested parties included Barcelona, PSG, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

He is a good player, but those sort of figures should be reserved for the Ronaldos and Messis of this world (if anybody). That kind of spending surely is not sustainable, even with the TV money that comes in to the top clubs.

Interesting that no English clubs were in the list of suitors. Is this not more about Bosman than TV money?

The Bosman ruling has been in place for a couple of decades but clubs have not offered wages on that scale to relatively average players until the more recent TV deals.

Juve are still owned by the Fiat car family? Plenty of money if so but it is still crazy as others have said.

I was thinking more that avoiding, say, a £40m transfer fee subsidises almost half of an £83m contract. You are right that TV money will have an impact on the astonishing size of these numbers to start with. However, I'll have to take accept your understanding as to how TV money is distributed in Italy since my own knowledge is negligible.

I appreciate that Ramsey will have effectively received his transfer fee in addition to his 'basic' salary. However, ten years ago I doubt a player of his age and ability would have attracted a fee of forty or fifty million. The inflation of fees and wages has been astronomical in the last few years.
