One game in and the negativity is amazing. I actually know that Norburn wanted to go. Nowadays wild horses wont keep players at clubs if their agents are whispering in their ears. We are in a time where loyalty does not figure any more. I am quite sure Mellon has his own thoughts and ideas which we can only speculate at. We are not the Manager. Give him a chance.

Ok, we've been caught with our kecks down with Ollie.
If we were desperate to sell he could've gone weeks ago. He went on the last day and, I hope, to ensure we got the best deal.
It's totally unreasonable to suggest we should have had someone lined up to take his place. On the last day.
Was this player and his club waiting for the Ollie deal to go through?
I doubt it.
Do we want to go back a couple of seasons where we desperately pay money for the likes of Donnelly and Almond to make up squad numbers?
Again, I doubt it.
It's not a good position to be in at the moment, short of players in positions,
but the MP bashing is totally out of order.
One player gone, adiós, can't wait for tomorrow.

.
That is the whole point though, is not it ? If he had gone three weeks ago and had been replaced with a permanent signing I don't think there would be many complaints, but ultimately it was our decision to push the deal through at the last minute. If Norburn had been pushing for a move all summer we presumably knew about it weeks ago; he did not turn up on Thursday and tell us he was going. I don't see how it is responsible to allow him to leave without having an adequate replacement in place.

I share Boz's and Ian's concerns about the strength of the midfield. This is such a crucial season for the club as we try to re-establish ourselves in the League, and avoid a repeat of 2014-15.

None of this is 'MP bashing' - well not from me anyway. I still support what they are doing with the club, but that does not mean they are beyond criticism and they should still be held accountable for their decisions, like all club owners.

Anyway, we still have a number of decent players left in the squad and I am looking forward to tomorrow's game.

So should we have sold Nors for likely peanuts as well at the first sign of interest to give us time to replace him?
Unless I've missed something I don't see why it was solely our decision to sell Ollie.
Its obvious from the lad himself that his head was totally turned when he knew of Shrews interest and the dogs have been barking for weeks.
Ah well..... Ollie's money and Max' s sell on should give us some clout in January.
We can still take on loanees til the end of the month?

We should have sold him prior to deadline day, for a lower fee if necessary, if that was the only way of guaranteeing a decent replacement. If a player is under contract it is ultimately the current club's decision to sell, nobody else's, unless the player wants to breach his contract.

Cook wanted to go last summer. But had to stay.
Clarke wanted to go in January. But had to stay.

But we move on......

I don,t think anyone on here is critical of mm I,m certainly not it,s more frustration than anything else I didn't see us losing 3 players so soon after going up although you argue cook & clark had already made their minds up norburn going so soon was to me anyway was a surprise

Does not fill you with confidence for the season but we can only see what happens. Maybe on Monday there will be a couple of decent signings to make us all feel a bit better. In the meantime any sort of win on Saturday would be great.

Still recovering from a double hernia. Think he's doing light running but is some way off yet.

We did not have to sell, regardless of whether he would sign a new contract. He was under contract.

You cannot keep an unhappy player these days. I understand that Shrews paid a decent price for a player who joined us for free twelve months ago so we cannot be too disappointed. See what happens now.

Hearing Elliot Embleton from Sunderland is likely to come down on loan.

Embleton is a 19 year old midfielder with no real experience. Guess we need another body but hopefully he’s decent.

Re Norwood. Shouldn’t we be trying to tie him down? Especially with some of the Norburn money who got a 3 year deal at Shrews

I think League Two is very different to the Premier League. At this level players just have to get on with it if they want to pay their mortgage. Norburn would not have been an attractive proposition for other clubs next summer if he had been warming our bench all season. He would have to work hard and play, the same as Cook last season.

I am sure we are. Whether we have got the clout to do it is another matter, I suppose.
