To be fair he should be playing at a higher level than National League. Not that that helps us in any way

Having said that, the Daily Mail did once run an article about future England stars and he was one of them! So maybe I’m not seeing it..

Have to say I was scratching my head when I read that article.
I agree with Sparky. I think he was overawed by the whole move. Good luck to him but pleased we've off-loaded him with, hopefully, little financial damage. Doubtless Chester will think differently!
Shame about Banks but we were probably kidding ourselves if we thought we'd keep him. A chance for Hughes to step back in and do a job for us.
If Clarke goes then better we bag a decent fee for him rather than through a tribunal. He really hasn't played enough for a tribunal to base a decent valuation on! Hopefully a fit Tollitt will again give us something similar down the wings.

Do we have funds to bring anyone else in?

Agree with what's been said that Banks too good for this league and if Oldham get more money loaning him to Swindon, that's understandable. We need a genuine wide right player and another forward option to be competitive. Wonder how much money Rhys Taylor coming in has diverted.

We must have surely. Alabi, Banks, McDonough and DMH all gone, Waring, Rokka and Green all out on loan. I suppose Mangan is the third striker option, until he disappears somewhere.

It's all a bit strange our recruitment policy. We seem to have players all over the place. The Waring signing another scratching head moment. Think I've seen him play around 20 minutes of football.

Waring was injured pre-season and the only time I’ve seen him was for about ten minutes in the Wrexham game, where his impact was minimal. However he was playing alongside Cook and their style of play seemed too similar for it to work.

My point about money relates to the fact that a lot of the sides in the NL have already brought players in. We’ll be paying full whack for Taylor [whereas Banks and DMH were subsidised by the parent club] and I’m guessing Fylde’s wages are amongst the higher in this league, so how much does that leave us?

Taylors wages wont be the equivalent of about seven other players.
I've not suggested it was and unsure of your 'about seven' reference point.

By loaning Alabi and Waring out, we were able to release funds to recruit Cole and Green. Before then MM said the budget was spent.
Youth players are to a great extent subsidised by the parent club, so DMH, McDonough and Josh Kay are unlikely to have cost much during their loan spells, while Banks' wages were reportedly subsidised by Oldham. Equally wouldn't expect a big saving by loaning out Rokka and Green, who are likely to be at the bottom end of our pay spectrum. Dawson's contract was terminated, but no idea if that involved a pay-off. The Alabi to Ebbsfleet deal is doubtful, but otherwise he'll stay at Dover.

By my calculations, we're likely to be worse off financially than the point the two forwards were loaned out because of Taylor's wages. While we might be able to get one or two youth players from league clubs at minimal cost, would be surprised if we can fund more than a couple of experienced pros at best, without a significant boost to the playing budget. Micky hinted at someone coming in during the pre-match conference, but no more clues.

On the subject of squads, some good news is that ahead of Saturday’s, Wokings best player Joe Ward has joined Peterborough.

Equally as pleasing is that Mensah has left aldershot for Bristol rovers.

I think most would agree the recruitment has been poor and if we don’t go up this season, Micky will face serious questions

Great news for us, particularly the latter. By far Aldershot's best player.

That would be enough would not it ? I was not suggesting we were going to sign seven players, just that we were bound to have some wriggle room in the budget with the players that have been loaned or released.

I think you are wrong in the assumption that we have less money to play with than when the two forwards were loaned out initially. Alabi, Waring, Mangan, Gumbs, Green, Dawson and Rokka have all spent time away from the club since then, and some of them have gone permanently. If DMH and McDonough cost peanuts and Banks was being subsidised, I think we will have made a net saving on those moves. Only Cole remains on the payroll of the players that were brought in in that period.

Of course, Taylor could be on the same wages as Buffon.........

Getting fed up with people going on abt the club finances . We will never find out what exactly they are . A hell of a lot of work is going on behind the scenes we will never know abt . Palios will not put the club at risk . . As for clearing the dead wood its quite obvious that melon has know got the rains of transfers . Think lee jones will be off in the summer . Head of recruitment my arse . Be interesting to see who is comming in as we need wingers . And another striker to addsome pressure on the front 2

Another ex Mellon-managed player so at least they both know each other and what is expected. And having played for Lincoln is probably a help.

John Ginnelly signs on loan from Burnley till the end of the season.

A 20 year old attacking midfielder - I’m guessing he’s a winger

He is a wide player, so what’s required. Lincoln fans seem to be mildly positive about him, has been a bit injury prone, so not had much opportunity for the Imps. Hopefully this will work out to Josh and Rovers benefit.

Ginnelly looks a decent signing. I have said all along that we just need someone to hold the width so the balance of the side is right, not necessarily a world-beater. Hopefully it will work out.

It will be interesting to see if he starts tomorrow.
