Assuming we are still in this division next season, which players from other clubs have impressed us and would improve the Rovers side ?

I would suggest that any of the Dover trio of Miller, Payne and Deverdics would be great signings, and could be available if Dover don't win promotion. The first two would add the pace, energy and goals that we lack, while Deverdics would give us greater midfield creativity. He is also excellent at set-pieces, an area where we have been particularly weak this season.

I've not been impressed with that many teams or players this season. We've just been poor! RLC is right though about the Dover trio. I'm not sure if they are a part time club? If so, surely superior wages may convince them to move all the way up here.

Other than that....Adam Dawson. Pacey and excellent on set pieces. Southport recently had a lad called Margetts who would be a good signing! We desperately need pace though

Seriously Louis Almond from Southport would be good. Ryan Lowe worth a go?

I agree about Dawson, provided he has overcome his injury. I am not sure how he has been doing at Nuneaton.

Almond would be decent; he scores the odd goal and would probably offer more than Mackreth. It is surprising we have not tried to cherry-pick any of Southport or Chester's better players (Hannah at Chester could also be an option).

Agree re Dover trio, Sean Raggett and Sam Magri at the back also look decent, though the former is interesting clubs higher up the pyramid.
Akinola at Braintree another decent player at this level.
Sean Newton the Wrexham left-back looked good last weekend.
Hannah didn't register in the home game against Chester. Recall reading somewhere that he was keen to return closer to home with Lincoln an option.

Think Adam Dawson has hardly featured for Nuneaton. I don't know if that's due to more injury or tactics.

Good call Boz. Solid at the back, lot of energy and good with his head.

I'm sure we could sign some of these players, but I expect only those whose contracts are ending. We don't seem to pay transfer fees. I'm more worried about hanging onto our existing players. Only Jay Harris has extended his contract. No word on Scott Davies, Michael Ihiekwe and the others. Don't assume they'll stay if we stay in NL.

Cant see where Ihiekwe would go to think hes ok but no better than that. We really need more pace up front and in midfield along with more creativity oh and a manager who knows how to use it too

He played reasonably well last season as a central defender and has done fine since being moved back there. He compensates in the areas where McNulty is weaker in the way none of the other central defenders on our books save perhaps Gumbs could. Better keeping than having to get someone else in to develop that understanding, given McNulty is going to be one of the bedrocks of next season's team.

I agree with Boz's comments above. Of the defenders on our books only hogan is as mobile as ihiekwe, but he has injury issues and did not work well in a pair with McNulty if I remember.

Dover were poor in their play-off game tonight, but I would still be happy for any of the quartet of Miller, Deverdics, Payne and Modeste to sign for us.

I think we need to look at recruiting younger, hungrier (in career terms) players from our own division and below next season; players with ambition to improve themselves, rather than looking for a final pay cheque as with a number of our current squad.

Some have been mentioned previously, but I think we should be considering the players below (no idea what their contract situations are):

Ross Hannah (Chester)
Louis Almond (Southport)
Shaun Newton (Wrexham)
Conor Jennings (Wrexham)
Kingsley James (Halifax)
Joss Gillies (Gateshead)

Speaking of play offs last night, Dave Challinor's AFC Fylde had a good away win at Harrogate in their conference north play off semi final 1st leg. Another goal for D.L. Rowe who always seems to score for them. As RLC suggests, the likes of Fylde etc and other lower league clubs must surely have some decent players at a good age with plenty of hunger and pace. There will be others in the national league too that surely would pick us over most clubs. Other options are the likes of Andy Cook and Andy Haworth - both at Barrow. The latter has scored goals this season the former is an impressive winger who got the winner at PP.

Ross Hannah would be a very good signing. But the issue he is a 18 yard box goalscorer/poacher similar to Mangan, Margetts, Lowe etc. There is very little chance GB would sign someone like to that to play every week alongside Norwood. Even Norwood has said he doesn't like playing alongside someone and prefers to be on his own. I just can't see GB changing from 4-5-1 and any decent striker will not want to come and warm the bench.

But something must change next season to improve our attacking threat at PP.
