With the Town End of the Main Stand closed, and the club confident that no other part of Prenton Park will fall apart under a gentle breeze, this game has now been given the go ahead.

Bury have been in generally good form for the past three months, after struggling to adjust to the loss of Ryan Lowe in the early weeks of the season. The Shakers chalked up an excellent 3-1 win at Scunthorpe on Boxing Day, and will arrive at PP in confident mood. Add in the recent form of Andy Bishop and the presence of talented ex-Rover Mike Jones, and this game appears a stern test.

However, Rovers really must take three points on Friday if a slide into another relegation battle is to be avoided, given the difficult fixtures which lie ahead.

In terms of team selection, Tiryaki will surely start, but there has been no recent news concerning our numerous injury problems. Depending on the numbers available, I would expect one of Robinson or Baxter to start on the bench again, and would guess that Taylor will keep his place if Goody returns. It seems likely that Holmes will start at right back.

Why is baxter on the bench, given its his last game unless we have re-signed him till the end of season?

I think we need to play the men in form and with the most positive attitude. Judging from the Stevenage game, that means places for Rachubka, Holmes (if Raven not fit), McChrystal, Buchanan, Labadie and Robinson. Ash was disappointing, despite his attitude, so I'd replace him with Goodison if fit. To give us width, I'd play Robbo on the left, where he played well for the last 20 minutes. Disappointing though he has been of late, I'd play Baxter in the hope he pulls his socks up for his last game.

My Team:

Rachubka; Holmes/Raven, Goodison, McChrystal, Buchanan; Welsh, Baxter, Labadie; Akins, Tiryaki, Robinson.

I said one of Robinson or Baxter will probably start on the bench, as at Stevenage, I did not specify who. However, on recent performances I would actually be tempted to start with Robinson.

I was always going to miss this one. The news about injuries is a bit more promising; Raven, Goodi, Zoum might be available and even Enoch's leg may not be broken though this game's too early for him. However, the information about the state of the main stand is still a little vague; is there any risk this game will also be called off given the current high winds?

BBTC, I'm not sure that I'd lay the bulk of the blame for the Stevenage defeat at Ash's feet. Before his injury Goodison had a couple of very indifferent games and my inclination would be to leave him out until the trip to Hillsborough alowing more time to regain full fitness. Likewise would prefer to see Holmes starting ahead of Raven. Elsewhere, think Labadie should retain his place, but suspect Les will recall Weir. Not much to choose between Robinson and Baxter, the former the greater work-rate, the latter more likely to get us a goal. Perhaps for this one Jose might shade it, though I can see the arguments both ways.

Prediction: Can't see us hitting 5k for this one, although there should be a few more away fans than normal. Think we might have ended our losing run v Rochdale, but much less hopeful here. Like Bigmart, would take a draw, but fear we may lose by the odd goal.

Our form has been terrible recently and we have been playing some poor football at home. I'm hoping that the forced exclusion of Enoch will allow us to play a bit more football on the floor. I can't see us winning and believe it will take more than luck as Rachubka would have us believe.

If we don't step up, I'm thinking a draw. With the recent form, Les can't take any chances. I think he'll be looking to play the strongest team we've got. Goodison et al.

Even though the weather is pretty rotten, it looks like the wind has at least died down. Hopefully the stand should stay intact.

You should never blame one player for a defeat, but Ash did not have a good game and his body language looked wrong. On the other hand, Mark was really up for it and was effective in both penalty areas (he was fouled for the penalty). I take your point about Goodison. In the current situation, no-one should be guaranteed a place in the team.

Thank God Labadie and Taylor both played!!
