Tranmere 1 Peterborough 0

mendy.jpgTranmere secured their first league win of the season with a 1-0 victory over high-flying Peterborough United at Prenton Park.

There were a number of selection changes forced upon manager Les Parry. In came Ian Thomas-Moore and Max Blanchard, whilst Arnaud Mendy made his full debut for Rovers after joining on loan from Derby County. John Welsh, Sam Morrow and Simon Miotto all missed out through injury.

Tranmere began the game well. Ryan Fraughan picked up the ball on the right hand side, he created some space for himself before whipping in a dangerous cross which was met by Adam McGurk whose flying header was superbly tipped away by Posh 'keeper Joe Lewis.

The Northern Irish striker was in the thick of the action again minutes later as he fired a shot across the face of the goal but evaded a decisive touch. The ball was crossed back in from the other side by Thomas-Moore who found the head of Enoch Showunmi but the big man's header dropped just past the post as Rovers began the game well.
